Aftermarket work north of Denver?

Not sure if this is cool as I'm not (yet!) a member of 5280. My MCS is to arrive in December. Can't. Wait.

Anyway, I'm fishing for recommendations for aftermarket installers for things like the 3M Clear Bra, Window Tinting, and installation of Driving Lights. I live in Longmont and work in Loveland but would be willing to travel to someplace for superior service.

I'm very impressed with my dealings with Ralph Schomp, but am looking to save a few pennies with the aftermarket items. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you muchly,
~Neal

If this post was inappropriate, someone please let me know. I prefer to not be breaking rules.

If folks are hesitant to offer advice in public, I'm fine with receiving recommendations via a PM.

Thanks again,
~Neal

Maybe see if Webb Motorsports can help you out, they're located in Littleton, CO.

Here's their web site... http://store.webbmotorsports.com/

Neal,

You might check with Randy but he is way South versus your wanting someone up north of the city.

You might try the folks at COS BMW, they are North and do some sponsoring of the AutoX which a bunch of our local MINI folks enjoy.

I'm going to be looking for someone in the Louisville/Broomfield area for some shop work on my 07. I do know that GO Motors in Boulder does a lot of sales on the older MINIs, but I'm not sure of their service expertise.

I will post a note if I find a shop I'm comfortable with for aftermarket installs.

Good luck.

I haven't investigated GO Motors for work either. Not sure if there are any really good shops around our area but if I find anything i'll post as well.

Check out the Rocky mountain forum too for good stuff around denver.

Here's a thread for clear bra stuff.

You're not breaking any rules. Don't have to be a member to post on the MINI5280 forum. That said, love to have you as one!

Who is Randy? I live in Parker and I'm looking for someone south of Denver. I'm interested in getting my windows tinted.

I intend to join once everything settles down (we also just bought a house and close on it the Monday before Thanksgiving). I've been trying to figure out the difference between 5280 and Rocky Mountain but haven't been able to discern what those differences may be (or which would be a better fit). I only posted here because of the forum ordering on NAM.

Randy Webb at Webb Motorsports. http://www.webbmotorsports.com/

He's installed my pulley and ram air box, and I can't complain about those.

Neal, my 2008 Cab is due to arrive in days. You can get on 3M's website and they will give you a list of installers in your area. I am about to have both clearbra and tinting done by http://www.aceclearbra.com/. They were recommended to me by one of the places I called from the 3M website who no longer is in the business. He told me that this guy is the only certified trainer in the area and has been doing this the longest of anyone around. Sounded good to me, plus his price was great. Hopefully I'll be having this done within the next couple weeks . I'll let you know how it goes.

Great info! Thanks so much. I see we've got one guy (at an RV place) available here in Longmont, and ten places in Boulder. May be time to get on the horn. I seem to remember another website (car talk?) that acts as a clearinghouse for automotive recommendations from consumers (...five minutes of frantic searching -- Neal rocks teh google!). Unfortunately that list looks like mechanics only, as none of these eleven body shops turned up.

If you're getting the work done in the next few weeks, that may work out well for a recommend (or a stay away), as I'm lining up for a Dec 15-ish delivery. I won't want to wait long before getting the clear bra on, however, especially if the weather is sloppy by then.

Thanks so much!

Forgot to mention the best part....he's going to come to my house and do the install in my garage. Not sure if he'll go up to Longmont, but NW Westminster's got to be close to half way there.

I'll let you know how it comes out.

I'm extremely pleased with the clear bra and tint that I got from Josh and "Clear Choice Tint" in Boulder. Otherwise, the other guy to go to is Norm with "Quality Tint and Clear Bra" in exceedingly south Ft. Collins / north Loveland -- he's done a number of cars for us and is also excellent.

jmdor, I wouldn't mind hearing pricing details if you still have that information and are willing to share. Schomp is asking $649 for a full clear nose mask and $299 for window tinting. My expectations are to pay less than half that by taking the auto elsewhere. Are my expectations reasonable?

Thanks!

It depends on the quality of tint that you want. I paid $650 at Clear Choice for nose, front bumper, headlights, door edges, door handles, and rear bumper for the clear bra. I paid another $650 or so for full carbon tinting and carbon tinting the sunroofs ($200 there alone). You can go cheaper by getting the metallized tinting, but I liked the look of the carbon, and I might go get a V1 radar detector, so I didn't want the metallic tint. Josh will give you a quote over the phone, and Norm might as well. Personally, I like to talk to the installers ahead of time so I know what I'm getting, rather than letting the dealer do the default.

Gotcha. I'll likely go the same route as you with the tinting (already have my V1...), although I'm thinking of skipping the sunroof (if there was a way to put this tint on the sunroof, I'd do it), and will probably get a little bit less clear-bra'd.

Thanks for the info!

Rocky Mountain is mainly geared towards classic Mini owners while MINI5280 tends to cater to the new MINI crowd. Though there are many members that belong to both and we do hold joint events and attend each other's meetings.
Hope to see you soon. Check out the calendar on www.MINI5280.org for information on upcoming meetings & events.

Neal -- either Josh or Norm are very good; you could go with either. I've got a couple of pictures in my gallery of the carbon tint -- you can check that out for Josh's work quality.

Rays Reduction in Longmont

I had my 07 done at Rays Reduction on Mainstreet in Longmont. He did a great, quality job. He's in his 40's and has been doing it for years - no kids working for him who just started two weeks ago like some of the places I've seen. Two of my co-workers had an Audi TT and RX8 done and theirs came out well two. None of us have had to go back for any issues. He'll even put several samples of brands and shades on your driver's side window so you can drive with them to see how they look in different light and see how you like them at night. This helped me pick out a brand and shade that looked just right with my dark silver and black Mini and one that wasn't too dark at night.

Wow, that sounds phenomenal (and super convenient for me). I'll have to give them a buzz.

Also, thanks to MiniMaybee for explaining the difference between 5280 and Rocky Mountain. Makes total sense.

You might want to give 5th Gear Auto a ring. They're in Broomfield not too far from 120th and Main. They've been around for quite a while and started out as an import service shop. I took mine there for the inspection and met an Elise owner there who was happy with their service. They're on Tom Martino's referal list and I was happy with the service I received.

After-math bra

Send me a private message, or search for info I posted. Got mine done in Lakewood and is great - lot less expensive too. Dave

What about South? Colorado Springs Area

I know I will get the clear bra done asap-and recommendations for purchase and installation in Colorado Springs- I will go to Denver is needed but it is more convenient for me to have it done in the Springs.

Also is it ok to have stripes installed over the clear bra?
