Question on my MINI!

hello, i just got a used 2003 mini s

trying to get used to with my mini but im having little problem.

im not used to the mini's speedometer which is on the center not the front.

i saw some minis in youtube have a mph on their rpm gauge. (small gauge right up on the steering wheel)

but i only see gas range/ave mph/temp/and some other thing/ on mine..

is that a option only for mini's over 2003 or am i retarded dont know how to do it?

thank you!!!

If you have NAV, then the speedo moves the the steering coloum on the older MINI's. The center speedo was brought up from the old style MINIs which is why it is there are part of the cars character. I would be willing to be that you will get used to it. I don't think there is a way to hook another up.

On non-Nav/non-Chrono cars (like yours), there is a way to have the current speed show up on the tachometer, but that feature wasn't available until the 2004 models, so I think you're out of luck.

Hi, yubbi! Welcome to NAM! You'll get used to the center speedo in no time...while not as large as the 2007's speedo, it's still hard to miss!

I have had my 03S just under 1 year and I am used to the center speedo, infact I like it better than if I had to look straight ahead.

I have had my 03 for 3 months now and when I get back in my jeep liberty I keep looking at the center for my speed. I forget to look at my speed sometimes all together in the Jeep. I say give it a few months you will be fine.

Also in a Mini you dont need a spedometer thats what the bumps in the road are for!!

thank you for the replies guys!
I have droven this MCS for about a week now, and..i just have to say this is GREAT!
I had a rsx automatic before and I can't even compare this MCS for rsx base..
Damn, It was a right choice to go with FORCED INDUCTION!
oh, anyway I have another question about steering.

When I parked my car and turning my steering wheel around, I hear some electronic sound from the inside of bonnet.
It sounds like eeeing-eeing-eee, some electronic sound..
Should I change the power steering wheel fluid? or It should be like this..?

thank you for your help! guys!

Yes it should sound like that. The mini has a different steering assist system....and you hit the nail on the head ....it is electric motor assist steering. Search and you will find more info.
