Supercharger

Does the supercharger filter ever gets changed? i read allot of the air filter swap for an ALTA or K&N but have found nothing on the supercharger itself. it seems to have a filter too, I can see that it has some torx screws around the filter but dont want to mess with them until I get some feedback. Is this something that gets replace under maintanance, can it be cleaned/washed? Is it worth cleaning or just worry about the air intake itself? Any insight, help . Thanks,

i am almost 100% sure that there is no such thing as a "supercharger filter"

I am 100% sure (at least for a MINI).

But if you have a photo of the area in question I'd be glad to help explain it and discuss any needed maintenance

I'm pretty sure he is describing the intercooler.

I'd agree... The intercooler (radiator-looking thing on top of the motor) does not need maintence, other than vacuuming out dead bugs.

Compressing air heats it up, this cools it.

HTH.

I'm just reading up on that and I believe you're right, it's called the intercooler? Is'nt this part of the supercharger, I mean that is where all the air comes in from the outside and there is a filter there correct?

Thank you MiniMac, just now read your post. Thank you all for the clarification! Like JaKay says, I guess I will just be removing some of the bugs until if I decide to swap it out with something a little meaner.

I doperiodically remove drain and clean the IC.

More for driveability than anything else, makes a big differeance IMO.

The air flows through the inside of the intercooler to the engine, and through the outside (the vanes) to cool down the air that's on the inside.

If you clean the inside of the IC, use acetone.
