LRP - a picture book (lots of pics) + a crushed p-car

Here are some photos from my last HPDE at LRP. I was in the "experienced" group, which is one below "advanced". Enjoy the shots:

Let's Rock:

Didn't realize the red tape looked so stupid:

Tracking out after the downhill:

Entering the esses:

I finally found a way I like around big-bend:

Back right tire BARELY touching coming out of big bend:

CT is just awesome in the fall:

Neg. camber up front helps:

The only left on the course:

The right after the left:

This porsche is an interesting story (although I don't know all of the facts). This guy bought the porsche used from a race team. He was the only person in our group driving inconsiderately all day, until the last session when he hit the tires before the uphill at somewhere near 100mph. I don't know if something went wrong with the car or if it was driver error, but I can't help thinking that sometimes people's wallets allow them to do things they shouldn't be doing:

ouch, that almost looks as bad as the guy who smacked up his E36 M3 in the T11 tire wall at Watkins Glen in sept (the GVC-BMWCCA DE/race weekend), though he spun in someone's fluid.

Mark glad yo see you're getting LRP down, I'm just hoping there will be enough dates next year with the "Lime Rock Club" they are setting up. I definitely have to get to another event there, hopefully NJ still has their date in May. By the way, if you like Lime rock you'll love WGI, you gotta come out next season.

I read an article in the NY Times about LRP going private and how it's going to take back something like 60 days next season. The patroon chapter's line on events at LRP next season is "We'll see." I hope we can still get out there, but then again, we're supposed to have a pretty awesome track opening up in south jersey next summer: http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/

At first I didn't think it was LRP... no rain, then I saw the puddles on the infield, and all seemed right with the world again...

Great Pics.

And yes, some people have bigger wallets than brains.

uuuuhhhhh a paved parking area. When I was there in 2004 and 2005 it was still gravel. Very nice.

No problem! I love seeing others' pics/vids. Here are some vids a buddy of mine took while watching.

Warning - this one has music with cursing:

Great pics and video! You're honking out there!

We live a few miles from LRP ... great to have all that racing nearby. We're not happy with The Club initiative... a prevailing feeling among race fans in these parts. Too bad for us, but it sounds like the new NJ track is opening at just the right time. I guess Skip's brain trust missed that one when they decided to cater to the Manhattan weekender set instead of the true race drivers and fans.

Thanks!

To join the "club" at limerock = $100,000. At thunderbolt in south jerz = $10,000. Not sure how comparable the clubs will be, but you're right about LRP, it just seems to be a negative outlook for us regular folk.

I was at LRP as a spectator Saturday. I saw a bunch of Minis, but I was so under the weather I simply didn't have the energy to talk with anyone.

It was a day hampered by two huge coolant leaks; one fellow trailed a swath about 3-4 feet wide around the track. One Porsche damaged beyond repair.

...$110,000 should get us into something other than 6 cylinder Mustangs...AND, these will not be available to anyone driving beyond the first two levels...weirdness! So, I guess you have to stay in the lower two groups for about 50 years if your payback is to amount to something.
