It looks like Volvo, or at least the local dealer, is trying to get the MINI crowd interested in the C30. I was checking out some cars at a local dealership and came across this new C30 with the Swedish flag on top.

What disappoints me with the Volvo C30 is that Volvo charges $300 to "customize" your car's color combination with something that isn't from the six usual choices. Sure, MINI just makes you pay for every option a la carte, but they don't flat out call it a "customization charge"

 

other than one of six choices = customized interior? the horror!!

 

i dont think the Volvo has the right characteristic to mod like the MINI. The flag on top of the C30 just looks tacky.

It's Volvo. First service interval will probably cost $2,000, under warranty. Everything they do is $2,000. Need the wipers changed? $2,000, as they have to remove the windsheild to install the wipers!

Need air in the tires? $2,000! They probably have to remove the tires to put air in them and then rotate and balance the car before putting them back on!

I had enough of their cars last go round. Never happen again!

 

New Volvo looks like more of a Rip off of the A3. (even though the A3 is a wagon)

 

Volvo isn't copying Mini with the roof flag, since Mini obviously copied The General Lee!



Just admit that the roof-flagged Coopers are really hillbilly moonshine haulin' and runnin' from the law wannabes!

 

I saw one coming back from autox 2 weeks ago. They really look horrible and are alot bigger in the rear then the r56. I do not like them at all.

 

There was a cool little General Lee MINI at MOTD last year! Awesome little MINI.

 

Just read a review between the VW GTI, MCS, and that C30. The Volvo came in last for almost everything. The Mini came in second but definitely first in personality over all of them. That Volvo kind of reminds me of a mullet haircut, business in the front and a really weird party in the back.

 

Man if you thought that the R56 had a big a$$. It doesn't have anything on j-lo c30

Their configerator sucks and so do their prices. 29k for a slighty optioned one. Plus it doesn't come in BRG for shame.

 

Hate to burst that bubble there sparky! Classic Mini's were sporting Union Jacks on the roof a decade before the Dukes showed up.

Funny how people have different tastes. To my eyes it looks very good from the back. From the front it's just a Volvo S40.

I'm guessing that being older than you I fondly remember the Volvo P1800 wagon. That is what that rear looks like.

 

Because I like dark green like BRG. But this Gecko Green is strait ugly.

dont get me wrong the p1800 is hot:


i just dont like the giant flat red reflectors along the sides of the c30. but i love how the c30 comes in at the rear but stays wide at the body, kinda like giving it a widebody race look to it

 

Yes that big reflector is a bit strange, but heck it's a Volvo & they are just a wee but strange. I generally don't like blacked out tail lights, but that car just screams for some.
