MINIs are so much fun to drive so why...
I was checking out some MINIs (04-06 models) for sale the other day, and I noticed not too many MINIs have high mileage. The average miles I came up with was 18k. That said, if we all claim MINI Coopers are so fun to drive, why are these MINIs not being driven more? Are your MINIs for weekend driving only?
And I totally understand you don't have to drive a long distance to enjoy your MINI, but at the same time, to get an average of 18k miles is unbelievable and I'm NOT complainting - to buyers advantage of course. But I'm just curious because I looked at couple of 2004 AMGs for sale as well, and avg. miles I came up with was 45k.
So it was interesting to see expensive cars have higher mileage than the less expensive cars (specifically MINIs).

My 03 has 47,000 + which doesn't sound like a lot but it has been to and from TX twice, Fl once and the Dragon several times. And lots of in town driving...no commuting though. I sometimes just go for a drive just to drive it!!!! LOVE my car!!! Love both of them!!
LilTiger won't fall into the "low mileage" category...she's living her life to the fullest. It's unbearable when I have to leave her at home. She's 13 months old, and the Odo is reading 18,520 upon arrival at the office this morning.
05 with 16k here. Bottom line is that there have been multiple vehicles to drive/ride and that coupled with the fact we live in the city and do not use it for long commutes means low mileage but doesn't mean the car is not driven almost daily and enjoyed

That's because the people who like to drive their Minis a lot aren't selling them. 71,000 here, 2003, and I've been slacking.

...Seems like 18K miles is not unreasonable for an '06...
I think yellowmininy has something there. My MINI spent the first 15 months of its life accruing 4900 miles. Then I bought it. Pushing 21K miles over the ensuing 14 months, and loving every mile.

My '04 has 61,000. Girlfriends '04 has 85,000.
What gets me is the people with '02/3/4's that are bragging about "WOW LOOK HOW GOOD MY CAR LOOKS, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S 4 YEARS OLD?????????" d00d, you've only got 10,000 miles shut up

Well, to be fair, things like paint, trim, and weatherstripping are more affected by time than mileage, especially if the car lives outside rather than being garaged.
Still, I agree - with a minimal amount of care, there's no reason why a 5-year old car *shouldn't* look almost-new.

I can brag with 70k...
Yes, you are safe to do so. I'm still waiting for the pictures from the car show ealier this month where I made an '05 and an '06 Mini with less than 5k miles look 10 years older than my '04 with 60,000 miles
Glad someone made that point. The people selling them, for whatever reason, either didn't find them fun to drive, or can't affort the payments.

- Currently just over 159,000 miles.
