it has to do with the way the fuel pump and filter work together, never really worried about it... cuase you can know from mileage... technically... but that's why it's an issue..

Heh heh. Just fill up every week, if not sooner. That's what I have to do on my Vespa, which has no fuel gauge.

I know how it works, but maybe this guy doesn't. Obviously if he removed it with the old pump he has his answer. I haven't tried the aftermarket pump, but this seems like a pretty easy thing to diagnose.

Bmw makes many versions of these sending units. Some are seperate from the pumps. I'm am sure you could find one to retro fit if the stock one can't be modded.

Five year old thread, pumping some life back into this. It's a longshot, but I hope Zmanrz could shed some light on this. Was this ever sorted? Is the Walbro still good? Any 1st hand feedback & long term review would be very helpful. I'm curious about this lower cost pump replacement option. Thanks!

Theirs not much that fits into the stock mini enclosure, it can be done but its a bit of a pain in the ***, as far as the level sensor, i usually cycle the key once or twice and it re sets the fuel level sender, if i have everything connected up, however another pitfall is the circuit board for the center that it rides on is easy to break and can be broken putting it back into the tank.

Thanks for chiming in Colin. I presume you have 1 in? How many miles & how long has it been? Any benefits or performance improvement noticed? Or, it isn't worth all the fiddling & headache? Thanks!
