First off, I think this is in the wrong forum?

To get to the question: It depends on your wheel (which in turn depends on offset and use of spacers or not). Also dependent are whether you intend to do some body/fender work to make sure you won't have problems with scrub radius.

Anyways, the max sizes I have seen are in the 225-235 range.

I run 245x45x17 on S-lites = no problem at all, even lowered 1" with Altas.

Highly recommended, lots better ride, gear ratio and stance.

How did you fit 245's on a 17x7 rim (S-Lites)?

Search for the answer, it's been discussed before.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=62253
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=112010

Also check the autocross forums, there are many extra wide tires that are used but realize that the widest possible tires will limit your tire selection.

Why do you want wide tires anyway? For Looks?

Personally I like 275/35-15

This tread moved from Suspension to Tires, Wheels & Brakes forum.
Please post in the correct forum.

The widest tire that will fit will depend on which rim you use and how willing you are to trim the wheel well arch plastic or buy wider fenders.

Assuming a normal MINI with stock suspension.

If you find 16x8" rims like Rota Slipstream
4x100 bolt pattern with +34mm offset the outer edge of the rim is almost flush with the outer edge of the plastic arch. If you choose +45 or +48 offset and the rim is wide like 8" then there will be not enough clearance for the rear lower trailing arm- you'll need a 10mm spacer to push the wheel outwards for clearance.

You'll need to buy tires that are smaller than stock to have the best clearance and certainly not taller than stock or you'll risk rubbing. Realize that wider rims and wider tires means more weight so for street driving at normal speeds this isn't helpful but for track use or autocross with no speed limits then wider tires and sticky rubber is very helpful- also wears out fast.

225/45-16 will fit 16x8 rims (fits 7-8.5" rims) 23.9" tire diameter
Kumho Ecsta SPT (Ultra High performance Summer tire) $100 each
320 treadwear

and
245/45-16 will fit 16x8 rims (fits 7.5-9" rims) 24.6" tire diameter
Bridgestone Potenza RE750 $134 340 treadwear
Fuzion ZRi $89 320 treadwear
Yokohama AVS ES100 $109 280 treadwear

Stock MINIs will lack the front negative camber needed to make full use of the front tires- stock MINIs will tend to wear out the front outer edges of the tires very fast when doing performance driving- the inner edges are hardly worn.

If you have 17x8 rims (watch the offset, about +35mm) then
you can mount
235/40-17 fits rims 8-9.5" wide 24.4" tire diameter
or
245/40-17 fits rims 8-9.5" wide 24.7" tire diameter
Both available in Fuzion ZRi

I try not to type in error.

275/35-15 to fit the MINI.

You do need to cut the wheel arch plastic a lot to make it fit.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....rtnum=735ZR5A6

Fits rims 9-11" wide,Perfect for 9.5" wide rim, 20 lbs! Section width 10.8", Tread width 10.1", 23" tire diameter

Compare with what I use on a 15x8" rim.
225/45-15 same Hoosier A6 tire
Fits rims 7-9" wide,Perfect for 8" wide rim, 20 lbs! Section width 9.8", Tread width 9", 22.8" tire diameter

Be aware that after you put in tires that large, ask yourself what sort of street wheels and tires you'd want to install for daily use. If you have a track only MINI then it's fine.

When I search Tirerack I can only find
Motegi Track Traklite Flat Black 17x7 +42mm offset 14 lbs $280 each
235 or 245mm wide tires need rims 8" or wider not 7".
Do you have a source for 17x8" Traklites?

When you put a wider tire on a narrow rim expect tramlining when doing street driving on grooved surfaces such as highways.

The Traklite2 17x8" 4x100's have a +42mm offset. I want to get a set for my R56, but I was hoping to avoid spacers.

Americas Tire (my local choice for all my other cars rims and tires ...and the street KDW2s) can get 17 x 8.
But a ET of 42 will put me on my fender (VERY modified and trimed already)
that is why I thought I was after a 45 ET (or more) then space as needed
These will be track / auto-x only with either Hoosiers or the BFG R1

TRAKLITE 2.0 Teflon® Black

Size 17 x 8
Offset 42
Backside 6 1/8

The 35 offset is on their 15x7's but not the 17x8's.
