Great American Beer Festival

Hi MINI Members!

We are writing to invite anyone who would like to Volunteer with us at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Thursday-Saturday, October 11-13 ! Volunteering at the GABF is great fun, great beer, and the "work" is easy. We are co-captains in the "Brew Crew" - we work in the event, pouring beers (1 ounce at a time) to the patrons. It's tough, but someone has to do it!

If you are interested in volunteering with us, you'll need to sign up at www.beertown.org (there is a link to the GABF from there). PLEASE make sure to request our section - Catlin/Martinez.

1) SOME BRIEF VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
- volunteers must be at least 25 years old
- pours are 1 ounce, and are strictly enforced (it is part of the GABF's liquor license)
- volunteers may taste conservatively while they are working - be responsible
- wear comfortable shoes, white t-shirt (if you work 2 or more sessions you get a GABF t-shirt)
- there are no lockers, so don't bring a purse or backpack - there's no where to lock it up
- the more volunteers we have in our section, the more breaks the volunteers get to check out other areas (and beers) of the event

2) VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSIONS
If you are a new volunteer the GABF requests that you attend a new volunteer training. If you cannot attend on any of the dates remaining, please read the attached Volunteer Handbook.
- You may choose from one of the following sessions (you do NOT need to RSVP):
Saturday, October 6 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

All sessions will be held at Anheuser Busch. Directions to AB in Denver: Take I-25 to the 58th Ave exit. Go west on 58th to Broadway and turn right (going north). Go 4 blocks to 62nd and turn right (going east). You will pass Washington. Travel another few blocks to Anheuser Busch located at 1455 East 62nd Ave (on the north side of the street). Enter on the west side of the building, through the door marked “Budweiser.”

3) HOURS OF THE GABF:
The public hours of the GABF are:
Thursday, 10/11 from 5:30 - 10:00 (volunteers should arrive by 5:00 to check-in)Friday, 10/12 from 5:30 - 10:00 (volunteers should arrive by 5:00 to check-in)
Saturday, 10/13 from 5:30 - 10:00 (volunteers should arrive by 5:00 to check-in) NOTE: Our team especially needs volunteers for this session.
There is one Member's Only session:
Saturday, 10/13 from 12:30 - 4:30 (volunteers should arrive by 12:00 to check-in)

4) VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK
A PDF of the Handbook is attached with more event information and volunteer training.

Hope to pour some with you!

I am unable to volunteer myself

but I have invited others. If so, they will identify themselves.

BTW, there was a couple who WON a trip to the GABF at the Dragon this year, in the Brewswap (sponsored by MINI5280). You may hear from them.

Thanks for the offer.....and be sure to sober up by Sunday morning and the Yalla Yalla, our big anniversary event.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Jonathan,

I tried sending you a PM but it tells me that you've exceeded your quota. It's in reference to another PM I sent a while back on 08SEP07 that I never got a reply from. Could you please reply to it or should I ask you in the forums?

I was there on Saturday as well.....Standing in the rain to get in for 30-40min after paying $45.00 for a ticket..... not my idea of fun...I was the designated driver so.....navigating drunken idots also not my idea of fun.

Told my hubby he should go with the guys next year-count me out!

Great idea but crowds were crazy and by Sat many of the vendors were already out of beer to taste. If you are going to go suggest taking in an earlier day/time........ be advised huge crowds....

I am sending a business associate,

Gary Stark, to sign up and work with you. He is coming down from Chicago. Serious about beer, too.

My friend needs tickets!

Yes, he waited too long. But Nick is a good guy. He needs two tix to the GABF on Saturday, if possible.

If you know of any, please email him at

NNAVB@allstate.com

and I will be forever grateful.

Thanks,

Jonathan

I will give Tommy & Stevie some of my years.

Besides, my wife says I'm still very immature!

I think that was a compliment...???
