A National MINI Wave Day...

I might have too much dinner or have not sleep much recently, cause today I come up with a funny / strange idea.

It seems like more and more MINI/Minis driver don't wave to each other any more. I'm thinking about make a day as a "National MINI wave day".

I know,... I know..., it might be a crazy idea or it might be impossible to do, but I want to see if one wants to do, what do you think it will take to make it happen.

Just for a fun of it, please show your exellent idea.

Input..Input..Input.......

Thank you.

Excellent idea!!

I think that in order for it to work, MINIUSA would need to be involved with an email/billboard campaign. Probably most of the non-wavers aren't going to read about Wave Day on NAM, after all.

I agree with you, I think: MINI USA, MINI's dealers, MINI/Mini clubs, radio stations and MINI/Mini owners will have to come hand in hand to make this happen.

Imagine, every MINIs/Minis wave at each other, with a big smiley face. The world will be happier place to live. At least for one day.

This is going to be fun.

Agreat idea...but it'll take a lot of planning. Getting it nation wide is a tall order. MINIUSA should definitely be involved...they have the most resources.

I'll keep thinkin' about it.

"Brighten someone elses day with a wave!"

We can have antennae ***** or something to identify we are participating wavers!

Great idea.

Great idea! We should give "Happy *****" (NAM Vendor) a call, see if they could throw something together?

I like this idea!

Maybe it could be on Sir Alec Issigonis' birthday. He created the original Mini and his birthday was November 18, 1906. Or we could key it to the day that the MINI was introduced in the US. It was in March 2002, but I am not sure of the exact date.

After a quick check on my NAM calendar, the introduction of the MINI to the US was March 22nd 2002.

Hi Maxi!

Set a date, post a thread and I'll go for the wave day!

BTW, I got a 15% pulley (the JCW is only 11%) and an LDG tune. What a kick that is! 190 WHP and thats with a plugged resonator. I'll run the dyno again after the resonator is replaced.

Maxi - you've started something great here....so...looks like you might be the leader on this. I'm SURE there will be plenty of us out here that can spread the word and get the local dealerships involved one way or another.

I like the T-shirt and antenna ball idea....

Day Dreaming .......

On the day, I can see myself wake up early in the morning, make sure Maxi is extra clean and go out motoring.

I'll look around for other MINIs/Minis, and will be ready to give big waves and hugh smiles at every single one of them.

I'll get lots of waves and smiles back through out the day. What a sweet dream.

I love my MCSC, but this waving thing is just so....FAY. BTW, I feel the same way about giving a car a name....unless you're a chick.

This is a great idea, it will also show if MINIUSA truly appreciates its customers, I cannot imagine them not being interested, the publicity would surely create interest in their car.

Deep down inside, I think all MINI owners bought their MINIs because they're different and have a passion for the car. If they really just wanted an econo-box for the daily grind, they'd have bought a Hyundai or Sentra or something of the sort. Being priced higher, quirky, and maybe....not quite refined enough to be "practical" in the sense of an econobox.

My guess is they just were not informed by the dealer or MINIUSA that waving is a MINI tradition, that when they buy a MINI, they're part of a special family of friends that share a common bond

Cheers

Not a chick, I enjoy getting a wave (makes me think there is still a chance for the human race) and I named my car.....and believe it or not, my wife doesn't think any less of me either

It's all good !

I love the waves. I also named my car. Not only does my wife not think less of me, she got me a Craven Speed antenna engraved with his name!

4 Letters, 5 Fingers....National MINI Wave Day 18 NOV 2007!

Come celebrate the birthday of the original Mini designer Sir Alec Issigonis by giving him a nod, and your fellow MINI enthusiasts a wave for the first annual National MINI Wave Day!

Celebrating 101 years since the birth of a motorist with a dream, we'll gather MINI owners from all walks of life and all motorways in the country to commemorate this special date. Look for the (bright yellow Antennae Topper / Mirror Placard / Commemorative Bulldog Plush on the dash) and find a new friend to tour the twistys with on 18 Nov 2007!

All items purchased come with a (decal / badge / badge shaped decal) and proceeds will be donated to EnglishBulldogRescue.net to help in their nationwide rescue and placement of the MINI’s four-legged cousin and inspiration.

Happy Motoring!

something like that? And yes, it IS important to ALWAYS use all FIVE fingers when you wave at anyone!!!

Ok, my 2¢ worth.

While November and March my be meaningful days, to the average Mini owner out there you're trying to reach, they mean nothing.

I suggest a day in late spring or early summer, when people might have windows or tops down, making it easier to wave, and there might not be rain to interfere with seeing other's waving.
