Join the Hickory MINIs on the Skyland Drive in Va. Oct. 27-28.
The Hickory Area MINIs are driving up the Shannandoah Valley and the Skyland Drive on Oct. 27, spending the night in Front Royal and returning on the 28th. This will be an all day drive on Saturday. Then on Sunday, folks can be on their own to explore the area and drive back at their leisure or return home with the group. We are getting a discounted rate ($71) at the Quality Inn in Front Royal. There are 3 rooms left if anyone is interested in joining us. The deadline to get the special rate is Oct. 6. If interested, PM me for details. We'd love to have a few more folks join us!!!!

Front Royl !
Wow! didn't think anyone had ever heard of ''Front Royl!, thats where i was born and spent 40+ years before movin South to pursue the dream! Wish i could join you,but i'll be out of town.I take it you're going BRP to the Drive in Waynesboro then down the Drive into FR?If so, you'll come out of the Drive on Rt 340 toward FR,which is only about 1 mile.On your way in to the Motel, you'll pass Dean's Steakhouse on the right, great place to eat and is decorated like days gone by.Enjoy a great drive,i've done it many times, but never in a Mini, please post some pics,as i only get ''home'' at Christmas and sometimes not then as no family left, just many great friends. One more note,at least on the Drive, speed limits are strickly enforced, the rangers run radar,so if you take your detectors, just remember they ARE illegal in VA,and they WILL confisicate. Have a ball!

I'm going to link this thread to the Hubby's email for consideration. Sounds like a nice weekend get away.
Well, it just may be up to the trooper,as 1 friend of mine had his taken and when he went to court, the judge found him guilty fined him then returned the unit with a stern warning.Another friend was on I-66 when stopped, the trooper took the unit, recorded the owners name and serial number on the unit, issued a citation then returned the unit. So, i guess it could go either way, depending on the kinda day the trooper is having.
