DENT - Rear qtr question

AHHH! I'm an idiot! I was parked too close to our X5 and the rear door (which is big and heavy and is spring loaded open)... pounded the crap out of my rear qtr panel. No paint was removed but like a qtr size dent right snap in the middle of the fender.

I already have an appt at dent wizard... but instead of removing the entire rear upholstry and seats in order to get to the side panel... can you access the fender thru the rear tail light assembly?

Post some pictures..it will be good for future reference..

I hope you fix the dent.

On the side note, weren't you on roadfly.com, too? I remember reading your M3 post back in '02 or '03 something like that.

I had a dent on my rear quarter panel and the PDR guy was able to remove it through the access panel in the hatch.

They won't take apart the car, they use suction cups to pull the dent out.
Good luck.

I'll post before and after. Sounds like i wont have to remove the interior.

I kept my same name as on Roadfly. I've been a member there for 7 years. Sold the M3 a month ago (weep weep).

Good luck.
The guy who fixed mine pushed it out from the inside by running some weird rods through the access panel. I've seen the suction cups used, as well.

I really want to see where this dent is. Looking forward to pictures.

Sorry you are having so many problems, dents and MINI's should never go together in the same sentence.

It's right behind the door handle... directly behind the speaker (which is good luck if there is luck to have in this mess).

I have a before pic... ill wait until tomorrow to show the two. As well... might as well just replace the 6x9's since Im already in there.

I hate having my garage full of 2 week old interior. Not only is it frustrating that I did this.. .but I may lose that "new car smell". And of course... i scratched some of the interior pieces trying to get the blade under the pop rivets. That's not so bad though... it will wear anyway.

UPDATE

For those who have been following this... I went to Dent Wizard to pull this out. I had to pull the entire interior in order to get behind the 6x9. While I was in there, I replaced the 6x9's with Infinity References. I have the hifi audio, so I had to remove the tweeters built into the grille and flush cut the mounts off so they wouldnt interfere with the Infinitys

Dent Wizard charged $130... and did an excellent job. Although I know where the impact is... no one else can find it. So i'd say it is 99.8% back to perfect. Thank the Lord.

Looks great! That was definitely a lot farther forward than mine, must be why they had to take it apart.

Glad it worked out, big sigh of relief, huh?

YEA! I wouldnt let them touch it though... i brought it home and pulled everything off. Just been burned too many times before with people breaking stuff. Im real happy with it... and now really careful of doors. The metal seems a little thin.

Glad it worked out.

Out of curiosity, why Infinity Reference instead of Kappas?

No reason other than they were in stock, new models, and on sale. They're also 2.6 ohm nominal... which is what I measured on the stock hifi 6x9s that I removed.

They are somewhat better than the stock units... but I'm not blown away. It's not like all of a sudden you have thumping tight bass where you didnt have it before. They go a little louder than stock and seem a little crisper.
