For street driving... Texas weather, which is mostly dry.

Looking at 205/45R16's to replace the factory Goodyears. I haven't run either one of these tires in the past, and am looking for some guidance. Cost isn't really an issue. Someone may have another opinion on a different brand/tire, too. I've been a big fan of Dunlops for performance handling in the past, but I've heard they've been struggling with quality a bit. I'm a big BFG fan, but the KD's and KDW's only come in 55 series profiles (which is okay, I guess).

I'm leaving work early to get my 205/45-16's which just arrived from Tire Rack this morning via FedEx. They are a bit small, but that is what I want

Oh, I got Yoko's, but the AVS ES100's. They seemed like the best blend of performance, durability, and dry/wet weather out there - and 78 bucks! You might want to try the wheel/tire forum though for better exposure...

Kumho 712's suck. I just took off a set of 205/45-16 Ecsta 712's and replaced them with 215/45-16 Falken Azenis RS. The Azenis offer VASTLY superior grip, control, smoothness and sound. I cannot think of any reason to buy 712's again.

I spent a lot of time on the tire forum on Tire Rack's website, it has an enormous amount of information, thousands of customer's feedback on every single tire you want.
I wound up getting the Yoko ES 100's and I agree with TonyB, it seemed to have the best bang for your buck. I was going to get the Prada's but after reading all the reviews rated the ES 100's a little bit higher, not much higher, just a tad. The difference actaully was marginal, but the price per tire was cheaper, so I for one of the first times in my life I actually chose the cheaper way out!
They get mounted next week onto my OZ Crono's, which will save me 12# at each corner over my S-Lite's and Pirelli Run Flats.

Along with recommendations from friends, here's what sold me on the Azenis:

i am in a similar situation but i need 17 inch tires

my driving habits include severe twisty roads and freeway driving (mostly)

car is NEVER driven in the rain
wet handling is not important

so to me, grip on the twisty, and quiet tires is whats imp.

what u guys recommend?

i do think the dunlop sp 9000 and the dunlop sp 5000 are pretty quiet

my pirelli pzero 7000 on my ohter car in 18s is horrendously loud
