Drivetrain Jet Chips ECU upgrade $399 retail....
Just wondering if anyone had looked into this. I contacted the company and this was their response when asked about an ECU upgrade for the MCS;
"We do have an ecu upgrade available for your application. The ecu upgrade does require that the factory ecu be sent to us for modification. You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ecu to us for
The modification. Suggested retail is $399.00, and the part number is 65002. The ecu upgrades are all done per the application, in other words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ecu upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications."

I contacted Jet about a year ago asking them if they were going to have a chip for the Mini. I wish I had kept the email response I got.
The person who answered my email said 'no, the market for a Mini chip is just too small for us bother with'
My repsonese at the time was, 'oh really'

Yea, the MINI market probably wasn't what they thought it would be a year ago. I found one Dealer offering that part number for $305. I also searched the web and found some other tuning forums for other imports that were negative on Jet Chips. Jet doesn't have the MINI listed on their site but I found one dealer that was specifically selling it for the MINI that's why I contacted them to find out if it was real or not.

Super_MINI,
Please post your lowest price finding here in this thread, with links if possible. Gosh if there would have been $300-400 ECU upgrades available when I had the pulley done by Randy at the Renntech "FL pulley party" I would have done it, but they were charging $700. That's not saying anything about Randy of course, his prices are very fair, the ECU price was not set by him. I knew the prices would come down because I had my Jetta done a couple of years back for only $350 by Upsolute (who does not have a MINI ECU upgrade yet).

Orbhot,
You live in the Tamp Bay area? I was checking out your site. I live in South St. Pete. It also looks like you AutoX your Mini? I was at the last AutoX event at the fair grounds on Sunday afternoon. Only saw one Red MINI. I thought it might be fun to have a local MINI get together at Ft. Desoto Park sometime... Anyway, I think I just hijacked my own thread. :smile:

Simple rule - any company that sells ANYTHING for "Volkswagon", stay away, far away. If they don't care enough about what they are selling to spell the name of the company correctly ...
