badge holder. wont mount.

for the life of me i can not get the craven speed badge holder to mount. is the original r50 grille too thick? the screws hardly reach the back plate and there is no way a nut will be threading.... and the instructions? are horrible. you really shouldnt have to take the grille off if it is a half way decent product.

its dark now, so tell me where i screwed up and ill get it done tomorrow sometime.

The grill for the earlier R50s is different than the 05-06 R50s. I wonder if it was designed for the later models?

Good luck!!

The OEM grill badge holder works for both.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. On the R50 you do not need to remove the grille since it lifts with the hood to give you access to the back of it. It's only necessary to do that with the 07 model R56, where it is not possible to access the back of the grille without removing it. If you cannot find a spot where you are comfortable mounting it, I would be happy to take it back.

If you have any further questions about the installation feel fre to call me toll-free at 888-493-7262.

I just went through this with my badge holder, although mine was not from Craven. I had to substitute the provided screws with longer ones. It then mounted fine with the longer screws.

yea, no big deal now that i see its not supposed to fit on the back side in a particular way. i stopped by the hardware store and also bought longer screws. 36 cents isnt isnt worth fighting over . i was just frustrated due to the sun setting and feeling as though i was missing something severely simple.

craven-
wouldnt be a bad idea to make a note of it though .

you're right - I spent 10 or 15 frustrating minutes with my head cranked around to see behind the grill before I realized there was no was it was ever going to go on with the screws provided. Luckily I had a pair of appropriate screws in my garage. but still - it'd be nice to get the right length screws with the holder.
