>>BMWs are jading me recently because of that horrible BMW Board from last week. Today one of them called me inbred and told me to go suck something.

Lauren, I have to admit that I snorted some beverage out of my nose when they called you a trailer trash *****.

Get your inbred *** out of here. All you're doing is being a ******* and trying to cause problems. This is a bmw forum, a forum for the 2002, 3 series, 5 series, 6, 7, 8, M, X and Z series bmw's. There are entire pages dedicated to your ONE LITTLE CAR. So if all you're going to do is try to start ****, go suck a ****.
If this turns into a 240hp ///M2, I'm getting one.
Make mine Le Mans Blue please.

There is no way they could use the ///M1 name again.

ANYWAY, I like the 1-series. It's the only new BMW I could actually envision myself driving. The 3-series are obviously great cars, but I'd feel a bit arrogant driving one. I don't mean to imply that about anyone who does; I'm just particularly sensitive to that sort of thing.
I'm surprised that this is a new vehicle. It seems like BMW's European competition (Mercedes, VW, Volvo, etc.) all have smaller models in their lineup already for the foreign markets. I would think that as the 3, 5, and 7 became more and more bloated, they would have introduced a smaller car underneath (besides the Z3).

I'm right behind you. The last mention of this car in Automobile suggested that BMW may still be up in the air regarding the naming conventions of the different variations. Regardless a four door M version of some kind is probably what I'd be after. It would replace our aging 325i well and go with the Cooper even better

I still use my friend's 3 series as a reference in handling and weight to power (along with interior)...if that trickles down to this, I'm all for it - regardless of the BMW stigma. Believe me, with some of the camera gear I use, I hear the same crap...
Believe it or not I've heard low 20's for the low end 1series. If I had to guess based on BMWs current pricing strategy and today's dollar the base M version (without Nav etc) would probably be a bit over 30k. Of course as with all BMWs if you add leather and other options you'd quickly be 5k higher
Also keep in mind the M version will probably be out a year or two after the initial launch. The M division doesn't just throw on a turbo and bigger wheels on it like most companies do with their "performance" versions. They will make it as close to perfect in terms of handling, balance and overall performance before the release.
