Car wash

Would any of you consider bringing your Mini to a car wash? If so, brushless or brush. Anyone who can recommend one in Northern VA, that would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to power wash mine at work, but the high calcium content has left so many spots! (I never thought that I'd care about that! )

Car Wash!!??? You should be banned from this site just for using that language around children....

Welcome to NAM PGA Mike!! Check out the Detailing 101 forum for lots of great info.

A few weeks back, I was pulling out of a Chevron gas station and out of the car wash bay there was a brand new Bently Coupe pulling out!!!

My heart just sunk...............sorry I'm speachless, I can't continue this conversation anymore....

I hope that you can tell from my post that:
a) I was leary of broaching the subject
b) I didn't trust Mini of Sterling sales person telling me that it would be fine in the car wash.

I have taken my MCSc through a car wash 2 or 3 times. No long term damage. :-) But I had a few good coats of various Zaino products on the car, which seems to make it impervious to just about anything.

Going through a car wash is actually the best thing for most people if you want to be really green and eco-friendly. They recycle their water and (theoretically) keep a lot of detergents from getting into the environment.

When you live in Cleveland, if you want to get the salt off in the winter and don't have a heated garage with a drain, there's not much choice.

What type of carwash? Brushless?

I would love to take my baby to a car wash but I just don't trust them. Besides, its $20.00 with tip for a basic wash. I enjoy somewhat washing my own car and turn it into a work out and it is easier to take. Get some mystque and hydro and you should have no spots.

I use a Laserwash car wash in the Cleveland area. No brushes ... nothing but water touches your car and it does a great job. I do the inside myself.

No wonder Pittsburgh is such a nicer place to live. Every house must have a heated garage with a drain...and a detailer comes down and washes the cars every night.

I've never used a car wash in my life...

I would love to be able to wash my car at home, but it is actually illegal where I live (Calgary). The law is to prevent soap etc. from running into the storm drains, which discharge directly into the river. I get around it by bucket washing in a wand wash place. Usually costs me $10-$15 for enough time to give the car a good cleaning. I find the places that charge on time are ok with it, and the coin-op ones aren't since they aren't making as much money off you while the machine is off.

I take mine to the car wash, too...

...but I have them handwash my car. I prefer to wash mine myself, since I do a better job of it. But when I'm too busy, the handwash at the local carwash is the way to go for me.

I watched 'em do it today, and they seemed to be really careful. At least they didn't do anything that scared me...
