The tire tragedy continues

I posted on here about 1.5 weeks ago that I had a nail in a tire. Well, took the tire in and they ordered a new one. They are still unable to get the new tire in so I've now been without my car for about 2 weeks. Any idea how I put a fire under the warehouse to get them to actually send the tire?

Sorry I can't help there but I think it a lesson learned. I hated the fact the car had no spare so bought a spare wheel and tire. Take it on long trips, keep it in the house otherwise.

These kinds of issues are not going to go away, the rarer the tire, the more the problem. When I look for my tires, there have not been any in the US (supposedly) for a month (at least at tirerack)

Was this a MINI dealer? Did you try TireRack.com? You could probably order one from them and walk in to the dealer with it a few days later.

It was an installer on the Tirerack website. I had to let them order them (and not from tire rack) because of the road hazard. BTW the road hazard actually paid about $150 on the tire (about half) so it wasn't too bad.

They are the oem Goodyear run-flats.

I have two that I just took off my S. The tech @ Tire Kingdom said that one has over 60% treadlife and the other has over 75% left. If interested, I will sell for $250. + shipping for both.

Go back and read what you wrote

Tires I've ordered from Tire Rack over the life of my Minis have been delivered in less than 48 hours every time - since an Oct 02 buy. You saved some $ by being w/out your car for HOW long? If someone gave me a tire FOR FREE after leaving me carless for 1.5 weeks I'd ..... I'd ...... I'd ..... well I sure wouldn't go back.....

Well obviously when I ordered them they didn't say that it would stretch on ad nauseum now did they. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20 or 205/45 -17 in any case.

im running Sumitomo HTR+'s right now and they stick
better than the SP9000 DSST's. also available anywhere,
even at sears if i needed the tire replaced that same day.

otherwise as chows mentioned it's best to keep a spare
tire and wheel in the garage and take it with you on longer
trips. in my case, i am trying to sell my used x-lites
(for $200) and get one new wheel and tire from tirerack of
the same wheel and tire that are on my car right now.
this is many to save space in the basement..
