Will CDC ever Be iPod?

For those of you who have the ipod adapter you know it re-uses the CD-Changer (CDC) icon in the audio menu.

Does anyone know if they will ever change this to say IPOD or something else?

It just feels like a bit of a 'Hack' with it saying 'cdc' :(

Closest thing you'll get is AUX. IPOD name is copyrighted. Not that it's the best nor only portable to consider anyway.

You mis-understand. I have the ipod adapter but have to select a menu item that says CDC and has a picture of 2cds.

I have
Tuner CD CDC Aux

I would rather have
Tuner CD IPod Aux

As it is specificaly an IPod adapter, I am sure mini have bought development rights so the computer can manage it, so i think they would be allowed to use an ipod icon, I just wonder why they don't change the ICON, I wonder if the graphic is in the firmware or if it will be changed in the future with a software upgrade.

Uses a generic name, not a problem for me.

I guess it's the engineer in me. I want it to reflect what it is connected to. If I had a CD-Changer that had CD's in it I probably never would have thought about it. I'm sure the Ipod adapter was an add on, as indicated by the fact you can only have a CD-Changer or an Ipod, and I'm ok with that, because who want's a CD changer when you have several Megs of MP3s (or AACs).
But as half the music on my ipod has never even seen a real CD it seems knd of odd to select a picture of them inder an icon called CD-Changer!

Pant. pant.

Might as well have a picture of a Gramaphone or a wax cylinder player!

I'm kidding it doesn't bother me that much, it's just a niggle.

Confused about the part of "you can only have a CD-changer or an Ipod"

I'm talking about the ipod hook up that you control from the navigation/audio controls and hides away in your 'secret compartment'. Not connecting it to your aux port. If you use the ipod interface you cannot have the multi cd changer connected as it uses the same interface. So it's either ipod or cd-changer.

Yes, but who would actually use/pay for both of them (i.e. the iPod adapter AND the CD changer (which BTW isn't even available yet in the U.S.)???

The iPod Adaptor connects through the CD Changer port, so the engineer should be happy with selecting CDC for the iPod. However, it is not a good interface for "The rest of us."

I know that a lot of third party head units only allow a specified number of auxilery items, like bluetooth, ipod, HD antenea, or sattelite antenea. But regardless of which you chose, it displays exactly what you are using, and not the item thats not even available in the US market yet but thats the option you get anyway. The longer I have gone without throwing down the 400, the happier I seem to be with not bothering. It should say IPOD, and not CDC if that is what is hooked up. The control unit should be able to determine the difference between the two. Seems like the AUX port is working just fine.
