Which fuse to buy?

The fuse for the cigarette lighter just blew on my 07 MCS. Can I buy any blade fuse or do I have to get a specific kind? (what kind of fuse does MINI uses?
The closest type of blade fuse I found are called "Littelfuse Mini Blade Fuse"
Also can I bump up the fuse to a 20A to 25A

you shouldn't change to a different fuse, that's how fires start and it can cause other problems, like melting.

Why not just take the car in for service?

I could but I don't like the the hassle of calling for an appointment, driving the car there and waiting for them just to replace a fuse when I can go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone and do it my self for way less time. And knowing that the MINI service dept. IS the BMW service dept. I can see it now, them blaming me for not operating the cigarette lighter properly.

Its a standard 20amp fuse. DO NOT GO TO 25a.

You may actually find a spare stuffed in a blank spot in the fuse panel. If not they're available at any gas station or auto parts store. It's a standard spade fuse, not a mini spade.

Where did you find the fuse? I had the same problem and they told me it didn't have a fuse--couldn't find it in the book, either! They said it was "hardwired" in.

That's pretty impossible, all the wires in a car is routed through a fuse one way or another. They may share a fuse with other wires but it is absolutely untrue if "they" (mini dealer?) told you that they are connected directly to the battery.

Remove the passenger side fuse box cover and on the flip side of that there's a diagram and its the one right above the gas symbol, F42/20A.

Here's a really good thread for 07 MCS fuse location

Amazing, thanks! We couldn't find this info in the owner's manual--nothing at all about the cigarette lighter.

And our SA was wrong, too.
