Chrome Bonnet Scoop

Anybody have the Chrome Bonnet Scoop? If so, how do you like it? Did you install it yourself? Do you have pictures?

I have it. looks good with a chrome exterior. It is easy to install on an R53/52, where it is actually used for something! Oh my God did I say that?

That's alright. No offense taken. I wasn't really ready for a Mini when yours came out. It just so happens that when I was, the R56 was the current model. Is that my fault? Don't think so. It's all good.

Here is mine. I love it. It actually has slightly darker chrome color than the rest of the chrome exterior package. It goes very well with dark silver.

I installed the Chrome scoop on my wife's Royal Grey '06 MCS (pics in my gallery). Installation was a snap, it just attached on to the existing scoop with the provided adhesive strips. I agree with others, it goes well with the factory chrome exterior package.

I installed the factory Chrome scoop on mine and it was really a piece of cake. Their is a rubber plug on the underside of the hood below the scoop that pops out and reveals a Torx screw under it. Remove this and carefully pull up on the scoop, being careful not to break the plastic clips. Press the new scoop in reverse order and install the Torx screw and plug. Thats it.

We had the dealer install it as it was ordered with the car

I have since removed it and re-installed it to exchange the grill with a perforated one

It fits very well with the exterior chrome package, and you sure don't see many out there

I'd like to add to this that I also installed a chrome bonnet scoop to my 07 MCS and the task was one of the easiest I've encountered in "Car Surgery". I was a bit reluctant to do it, afterall the car was only 2 weeks old. But as I did it---I saw how easy it is and truly how well-made these cars are as it all fits together perfectly-nothing out of line or needing adjustments. Once you remove that tork screw inside the hood, close the hood, and gently pry up one corner of the existing scoop using the replacement scoop as a guide to note exactly where the pins are located. By doing so, you know where to apply the gentle upwards pressure to release each pin. Each pin "pops" out without much force. The chrome replacement scoop has no venting ---it is solid--- so I removed the screen on the existing scoop (with venting holes) and swapped it with the chrome (simple screws). Maybe it's no big deal, but it seems like a few venting holes are better than nothing. To install the new scoop, simply line up the pins with the sockets and apply gentle pressure on each until you hear a "click" as it locks into place on the hood. Raise the hood and reinstall the torck screw and rubber cap. Store the old scoop in the box the chrome one came in...in case you need it one day. This entire project was completed in about 15 minutes. Hope this helps others. Don't feel intimidated..it is a very easy task. Car looks GREAT!

I think it works best (R53 & R56) with no bonnet stripes - having both, there's just too much going on.

chrome scoop with sport stripes?

Is the chrome scoop easy to put on with sport stripes? What I mean is does it fit the same as the existing scoop? Is there any overlap on the hood?

Would it complement the chrome mirrors or be too busy with the stripes? Just asking!

+2 for chrome scoop w/black. I know a lot of people like the blacked out look but I like shiny things. I think I was a bird in a former life. BTW I saw one for sale in a marketplace add. Don't know if it's a good deal as I have no idea what they cost new.

I installed my scoop and it was the easy part. The hard part was drimel the black plastic vents open to allow the scoop to function as a working scoop for my CAI (Cool Air Intake).
It works great!
