R56 new vs. old ..........
I put out better lap times in my stock MCS that I did on either of my friend's cars at Seattle Raceway... the cars were a HIGHLY modded 2002 S and a 2004 (I think) JCW. They, too put up better times in my car but I don't have definitive numbers in front of me at this time (I'm "working" right now). I'll hopefully have some times after 09/11 with the JCW Engine kit added, too.
Same driver, the R56 is just faster.

Who made you "Thread **** For The Day"?
Look... faster is faster. The new car IS faster around the autocross course and the track. There hasn't been anyone who has even suggested otherwise. There are a ton on subjective reasons to choose one generation or the next. Lap times aren't debatable.
Like it or not, new usually outruns the old. Take a look at the few "hands-on" reports of the R56 JCW 192 kit that are trickeling out from Germany and the UK. The R56 JCW on paper looks like it's down on horsepower when compared to previous JCW cars... but those who have driven it have all said it's the fastest JCW EVER... that INCLUDES the GP
.
A couple years from now the JCW Stage II cars will be out and all the Stage I owners will be crying into their pints and finding some reason why the older car is still better. I'm sure I'll be there with a Guinness in front of me. Time marches on.
