I got it. It does fit, but not perfectly. One caveat: The instructions tell you to screw it into a non-existent flange on the R56 cover (parcel shelf). There are several ways around that, though. I took an easy route: I just screwed through the parcel shelf and glued black plastic end caps over the screw tips. The thing is very useful and I use to hold things that would otherwise fill up, or rattle around in, my glovebox. I got it from Outmotoring.

Yeah, that looks very useful, gets little stuff stored and off the floor. Where'd you get it?

I have one in my R53. It wasn't as easy to install as the instructions seemed, although not really hard to do. I do like having a place for the stuff that otherwise rolls around. I do think it cuts off a bit of speaker and exhaust (Magnaflow) sound. I purchased mine last month from Morristown MINI $95.20 + shipping.

I also have one in my R53, but I forget what I put in there at times.......

It is useful for keeping things out of sight and from being loose in the trunk or cabin, but I tend not to carry a lot of that type of stuff in my car anymore.

I have one in my R50 and, like many others, tend to forget what's in there. However, it DOES allow me to keep a lot of cleaning supplies there, without worrying about spillage and cluttering up the boot any more than it already is.

I just recieved it for christmas, and it doesn't fit. The system is longer than the shelf by about an inch. I can't get it to fit flat, so it looks like I will be returning it. Unless anyone else has ideas.

I take that rear shelf out at least twice a week to load something in there. For me this would be always in the way. The cargo box that goes on the floor and brings the rear compartment up to level with the folded-down seats makes much more sense to me.

Same here with having to remove the rear shelf every once in a while. I restrained myself from getting the parcel storage system and just put my loose supplies and tools in an old messenger bag that I leave in the boot held by the side cargo netting.

I removed the parecel shelf and netting a long time ago. I keep the rear seats folded down and have found that two plastic milk cartons - the ones that hold 4 1 gallon plastic milk jugs- fit perfectly for storage. Best of all, they dont have to be tied down at all and can be lifted out if one needs to.

The rear saddle bag system is available from the dealer as OEM from the dealer. $119 according to Mini USA.

Yeah, they only make one system. The dealer doesn't list one for the R56, oly for 1st gen minis. Outmotoring.com lists it under the 07's, but when you click on it, the top of the screen says for 02-06.

It can be made to fit, just not the way the instructions say. Plus it is about an inch longer on both sides to fit flush against the tray. I'm going to try and make it work, I'll post pics if I get it.

That's interesting they don't have one for the R56. It is listed as an optional accessory when configuring a car.

I have a small zip up tote that fits perfectly in the boot on the right side, using the netting to hold it in place. I use it for a some basic items for last minute overnights, a flash light, a multipurpose knife/tool thing, and a few other odds and ends that might come in handy.

It cost me $20... installs in 5 seconds, no screws needed.
