SIRIUS Installed Price

Wondered what everyone was paying to have the dealer install the Mini Sirius? The dealer in my area wants $907.00! Which includes 12 months of programing, but that's $300.00 higher for my Sirius in a Mercedes a couple years ago. Let me know.

Yes. They name it after you. Also, you get your own personal channel on Sirius to program as you wish.

Is there any reason why I can't get an $80 receiver from Circuit City with their $50 Firedog installation? As part of the installation price they will remove everything and restore everything as it was when the car is sold. Obviously the biggest risk is trusting the drones at Circuit City, but I've had installations done in the past without issue.

I just also got a quote of $1,070 which seems to me is a gouge considering I can get a small portable for $50-$100 and installed for less than $100. Thats a total of maybe $200 for the same programming. Lets see, $1070 or $200 just to get it hidden. I just can't justify $1,070. My other alternative is one of their wireless portables which I can take it with me and it has its own antena so no wiring and just plug it in like my IPOD in the AUX. The guy at best buy said the reception would be better with a car kit and a external antena but I don't want to do that. Has anyone used the aux for a wireless portable and not had a big problem with the reception. A few cut outs here and there is ok. My sirius in my Honda is hard wired and cuts out all the time and sometimes for miniutes so if its no worse than that, it would work for me.

I had the starmate into my aux in for month and though it sounded great. I ran the antenna wire from the back left corner of the roof along the seam in the headliner and then dropped it down near the b-pillar, and then tucked it into the seam between the carpet and the door sills. It was invisible... and sounded great. I planned to the get OEM Sirius added so it was intentionally a quick 'down n dirty' job, but no one was the wiser to all the wire and it took me literally about 5 minutes to run.

Then I just put the head until in the cubby at the base of the center stack, plugged a male/male headphone cord between the radio automobile base and the Aux in, and plugged into the lighter.

Anyway, total cost, including buying a lifetime subcription: $460.

Make sure to turn the volume on the Sirius up...

the install should take an hour plus programming, and the msrp uninstalled is $599 I believe. They're REALLY overcharging.

Even just the $599 for the hardware is unreasonable. I think I'm going the Circuit City method mentioned above.

I did a xm roady xt at circuit city. They ran the antenna totally invisible, plugged into the cigarette lighter, used the aux input connector, an voila. Total cost was about $50 bucks after rebate.
