Air Intake and ebay ??????????

All right will this work on my 02 mini cooper

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-06...QQcmdZViewItem

And do you think that I can trust the seller? Or would I be better off ordering one from a website like flowsorce etc...
Thanks
Nick

Go with the AFE. They claim twice the power and everyone that has one seems to like it. That's what my dad is getting after the Injen fiasco.

K&N products are good products, they make great filters. So does aFe. I have had an aFe system on my MC for about 3.5 years now. The prices from www.flowsource.net are very reasonable, and they have decent customer service. I actually have replacement filters on the way. Even though they are lifetime, after several cleanings and re-charges, they just look dirty, and I like to keep the engine bay in tip top shape.

as far as trusting the seller on ebay, just check out their feedback, if they don't have enough, then don't trust them yet...etc.

I don't think there is much difference in performance on any of the short ram systems for the MC, they are all basically the same, tube that attaches to the throttle body, high flow filter, etc. It is a simple and short system, so it is hard to get anything wrong on it. That being said, I really like my aFe filter, they are great.

You know....a tube is a tube is a tube....go with the $20 ebay kit and your wallet will be happier. Is a K $ N sticker worth an extra $80-100?

Just to make sure it's www.flowsource.net right?

true, to a point. Some of the more specifically designed kits have brackets that help to hold the pipe/filter in place, to prevent it from rattling while the engine is running. Mine has a bracket that attaches to the transmission mount, so it is really stable, and is positioned perfectly in the engine bay. No rubbing, no rattles.

And there is a difference in the filter. I would not say $80-100, but a difference in how easy it is to clean and re-charge, and how well it will hold up over time. The aFe filters, or other brands, run around $35 a piece for a generic fitment on an intake pipe that size.

Fit and finish matter to me, so I went with the more expensive route to get what I wanted, but that is just me. And I would do it all over again for qualitly and looks.

I have the K&N installed in my MC and am very happy with it. For the MC I think all that really matters is to have a nice open filter on the end because they all go to the same point in the bay. And the seller has a high rating so it seems pretty good to me.

First time install will probably take 30-45 min. Very easy.
function __RP_Callback_Helper(str, strCallbackEvent, splitSize, func){var event = null;if (strCallbackEvent){event = document.createEvent('Events');event.initEvent(str CallbackEvent, true, true);}if (str && str.length > 0){var splitList = str.split('|');var strCompare = str;if (splitList.length == splitSize)strCompare = splitList[splitSize-1];var pluginList = document.plugins;for (var count = 0; count < pluginList.length; count++){var sSrc = '';if (pluginList[count] && pluginList[count].src)sSrc = pluginList[count].src;if (strCompare.length >= sSrc.length){if (strCompare.indexOf(sSrc) != -1){func(str, count, pluginList, splitList);break;}}}}if (strCallbackEvent)document.body.dispatchEvent(even t);}function __RP_Coord_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Left = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Top = splitList[1];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Right = splitList[2];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Bottom = splitList[3];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-js-coord-callback', 5, func);}function __RP_Url_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Vid = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Parent = splitList[1];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-js-url-callback', 3, func);}function __RP_TotalBytes_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback_Bytes = splitList[0];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);}function __RP_Connection_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback_Url = splitList[0];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);}

I also have the K&N Typhoon installed, the finish is great and the sound is pleasing. I do have a question to anyone who has performed this mod with any intake kit. What did you do with the stcok resonator box? Mine is still in place and looks like alot of work to get a plastic box out of there So what have you done with the box?
I'm looking to loose the 1 LB of weight so I can shave a few hundreths of my times

Hmmm, the box should come all the way out to make room for the K&N. . . its only a few screws. . . Mine's just sitting in the extra parts box in the garage.
