R56 MCS Nose mask- review (warm-cold)

I bought this piece this past week for my new R56, simply for the times when I do have to hit the open highway. I picked it up from Momemtum MINI here in Houston.

I have had the clear bra option on my previous cars but chose not to put it on the Mini since I mainly drive city streets. I washed the car today and decided to try it on and get familiar with it. The material is simply a synthetic leather that feels familiar and would seem to hold up well over time; sacrificing its shell for my precious yellow paint. The nose mask comes into 2 pieces, bottom bumber and the hood. The top parts looks a funnel, not sure about the design.

I was too lazy to fully assembled it, I had washed my car and my wifes, so I just 'put it on' just to see what it would be look like. The top part that covers the hood needs to be stretched and tightend, but I raised and eye brow when I look at it. I don't know if I like it, you be the judge.

Take a look at the picture attached, and see how the top part takes so much away from the nice lines. I would have hoped for MINI to have designed a better looking nose mask for the R56. The bottom part is nicer and seems to blend in better.

I guess it's a good thing that I dont have to have it on too often...
If I did a lot travel, then the clear bra option would have been the 'clear' choice for me.

I will have more pictures tomorrow....

See ya!

I'm trying to be nice when I say this really.....Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I'd get rid of it..Would rather have a naked front than that thing. It hides the lines of the MINI way too much.

D@NM that is quite a look.

My gut reactions were either a leather thong, or that thing sumo wrestlers wear.

Well, you asked.

Dude. Take it off and leave it off. Return it and try and get your money back. If that doesn't happen, burn it. It looks terrible. It looks like a fat guy wearing a thong.

Even though you mainly drive in the city doesn't mean that a clear bra wouldn't be beneficial. We mainly drive in the city, you still get rocks and stuff kicked up. We got the venture shield on my wife's R53 when we got it used and I'm getting it installed on my R56 ASAP after taking delivery.

And to add my thoughts on the bra you got, I'll add my ewww....it really takes away from the appearance of the MCSa.

I break out uncontrollably every time I look at that pic. In addition to sumo and thong it makes your MINI look like one of the alien characters from Lilo and Stich.

I vote for Lose it and don't try and find it.

I don't see the point

IMHO, maybe I don't keep my cars long enough, or maybe I don't drive in nasty conditions, or maybe I just don't care enough to have the perfect car ... but I just don't see the point of ugly bras and thongs and other stuff to protect the front of the car.

So it gets a scratch or two, I'd rather see the MINI.

This is the first S&M MINI I've seen. Tell the truth, you got it in a sleazy little shop on Hollywood Blvd. Did it come with chains and whips?

As an educator, I understand the need for protection from life's little kickbacks. The raincoat you have shown us is perhaps functional. However, ask yourself:
1) Is it something I would wake up to every morning?
2) If I choose not to wake up to the raincoat every morning, would I accept a ding or two while I was running naked and beautiful on the streets?

MINIs are meant to run free. Scars are part of the parcel and package.
Read between the lines as you see fit

I agree with the general consensus...or is it more like a unanimous consensus?

That thing looks pretty horrible. Makes your car look like it is into the whole S & M thing. "Bring out the Gimp".

I agree that it looks terrible. I wanted to post some pictures and a quick little review since I couldnot find any information here on the forums.

That being said, I need to look at different options. The clear bra is certainly an option but an expensive one; believe it or not the bra thing only cost me $80.00 from the dealer.

I will be returning it and looking at different options so let the record reflect that this thing is "all together" " BUTT UGLY" !!!

One other reason I'm shying away from this type bra is these hoods get extremely hot from the turbo, and it could cause problems ranging from the paint blistering to the bra material metling and many other possibilities. If any thing go with the clear-coat material. Far better choice and will allow the internal heat to vent out too.

Andyde, this thread was cross posted so others could view your picture, I almost lost my breakfast.

You have made the right decision, suggest to your dealer they take this item out of their inventory.

It does need a redesign, go with a quality clearbra, spend the other $320 at an independant shop.

Thanks, that was the whole idea so that we all had a visual clue of what this 'thing' looked like. Pictures tame it down a bit, you should have seen it in person

Other than the fact that this bra is pretty hideous, there are other reasons not to use bras of this type:
1) If any dirt or abrasive particles get under there it will scratch your paint as you drive along.
2)the paint under the bra won't fade, while the rest will, so when you take it off you'll have a "reverse tan line"

Now you know why the dealer was selling it so cheaply. I am sure they have a stockpile of them in the back.

I would definitely go with some sort of clearbra. See-through bras are always the best bet.

I hope you changed you car's name to SPANKY--OR SPANK ME.

Are you using one of those spiked collars as a steering wheel cover ??

Seriously--not a great look-try to return it and SOON.

Exactly!.. It'll cost a whole lot more to get the bonnet repainted after that loose bra (hmm.. I know her..) beats the paint to smitherines than it would to take it back and have a reputable vendor install a clear bra.

No way, that sucka is FUGLY!!!...
