August 13-17

I heard a nasty rumor at a party tonight & HEY it's true. Every Alabama State Trooper will be on patrol August 13-17 aggressively enforcing the laws. While I know none of us ever speed & we are all perfect driviers I just thought I would pass this along

That means Madison county will have both troopers working that week.

I got stopped a couple of years back returning the back way to Bham from Guntersville. Roadblocks stopping everyone, they said they were funded for it and it was something they had to do from time to time. Lots of cars and badged officers. I don't know Madison County, but both troopers may have friends. Thanks for the reminder, bamatt.

They will be out statewide. I have only seen the police on I-65 from Pelham to Riverchase a few times in the 6 years I have lived out here but when they do these kinda operations there is always one sitting on each side of I-65

I only put this info out there in the interest of public safety since none of us ever speeds I only warn so no one will get such a shock at seeing an unexpected Trooper & have a wreck or something

The highway patrol want to show the folks in Montgomery controlling the purse strings what they can do to save lives when they are properly funded. The newspaper article I saw stated that there is a sign in Florida that says "Welcome to Florida, now slow down" when leaving Alabama. They could have more work than they want if they just camped out on I-459. Motor safely Ya'll

They really need to do a "take back the stop signs" campaign. May as well since no one up in this area stops at them.

One good thing about this campaign. It's good practice for the next dragon run.

Well I saw zero troopers on my trek down I-65 this morning but my aunt said she saw 6 on 459 this morning. Everyone was going much slower this morning though. It sounds like they will be mostly targeting speeders which is idiotic as they should be going after the zillions of interstate tailgaiters who IMHO are much more dangerous than anyone

18 on the entrance ramp from Liberty Prkwy. to 459.
1 on the overpass taking pictures.
6 past Liberty Pkwy. already pulled over.
Which Totals 25 State Troopers at 1 EXIT.

I only saw them on the news. So all is well as long as I don't see myself in the same news story.

Oh yeah, last Friday I was in Woodlawn and got stopped at a DL/Insurance card checkpoint. Haven't been through one of those in a couple of years.

I only saw one Trooper on I-65 the entire week but according to the paper I guess well over 20K drivers weren't as lucky
