Just ordered new MCS, have a worry already

First post; I was just looking at my online car order info (don't know production week yet), and saw what I think may be an error on the order from the dealership.

Two options DON'T show up that I wanted: LSD and leather interior.

Is it possible the car was ordered properly but the options do not appear correctly on the online info?

It's too late to call the dealership (closed until Monday), and 1866 ask MINI is also closed until Monday. The car is scheduled for production apparently, but not being built.

Anyone out there can calm me down until Monday?

Thanks ahead of time!

Yeah it is possible. Your two options to ease your nerves you listed there...Ask MINI and ask your MA. I had the same thing on mine and it was perfect when I finally survived until ask MINI had an update. It wont be long and you will have the number memorized along with your VIN# as well!

Yes, I hope I have time. I hate to call and find out it's at some irreversible stage.

Thanks for the kind words; it's nice to know that other people (well, one so far) have had inconsistencies and had it work out.

I am used to rear wheel drive (BMW 330ci) and I feel strongly that I need LSD to help even out the torque steer with front wheel drive.

Even if you convince me I don't need it, I still need it

We just went through this process in our household as well.

Don't worry. Call ASKMINI and your MA on Monday. It will be fine. It could be nothing - in our case, my husband's new MINI showed up PW in the database for several days before it adjusted itself to LB. He was told several times, "don't worry - we know".

Not to worry, the OL seems to get out of wack sometimes on a new order. Then it gets fixed 'magically'!

You can call your MA and confirm on Monday and they can modify if they left something off. I suspect you probably want the LSD. What leather package did you order?

Enjoy and make sure you have it the way you want it. It's when your MINI is 'in production' that it becomes hard to change.

Not sure about the LSD, but seat options are usually not listed online from what I read. You can read about it on the Week 26 support thread.

The way I've heard it explained is that many times, the information that appears online initially can be a dealer spec. It takes a few days for the system to be updated with your particular order. Don't worry, it will right itself shortly.

I haven't heard of anyone complaining that their order continued to show the wrong information long-term.

My interior (rooster red leather/black cloth) didn't show up, and I'm pretty sure other folks interior has not shown up either. I would think the LSD would show up though.

If you JUST ordered your car, then there is nothing to worry about. It takes a few days to show up in the OL with the correct specs.

If you ordered a while ago and are still seeing incorrect info, you should just call your MA on Monday to make sure eveything is kosher.

See all the above replies . As long as it was on the order sheet that you signed off on, it is on the order. If it isn't on the the order sheet, then you are not getting it unless you update your order with your MA before it goes into production.

Otherwise, every response above is dead on correct....
  • The OL is slow to update when the order is first placed and the information may be incorrect
  • The upholstery choice doesn't appear in the OL
  • If you have any questions or concerns, call your MA

Ok, I have a similar problem. I have a car on order that initially was the wrong color, wrong options, etc. in the OL database. I bugged the salesman, they said not to worry, it will be fixed. It was, and was correct for about 4 days.

On Fri., it stayed the correct color, but the options switched back to the incorrect ones. At what point should I stop relaxing with cokes and start to worry that it is going to have the wrong options? At what point should I worry about the car not having a production date? I really don't want to be the weird customer that calls all the time.

When I ordered my car my dealer told me your initial order will not show up correctly until about a week. In a little over a week my order apeeared with the required options. I have my car now and it is just as it was ordered.

Your MA should of told you about this when you placed your order.

The key is your build sheet which you should have gotten from your MA when you ordered the car. The html version from MINI will only serve to confuse you.

Mine was slightly different from what I ordered. I would email or call your MA to make sure though.

Unfortunately, there's really no time in the ordering/waiting process where the Owner's Lounge is the best source of information. From the time you place the order until the car goes into production, your MA is probably the best source. From the time it starts production until it gets on the boat in Southampton, 1-866-ASK-MINI is probably your best bet. While it's in transit, the shipping company's web-tracking service and the various AIS services are probably the best. And once the car gets to the VDC in the states, I would go back to asking your MA, since they get daily printouts of all of the cars at the VDC and what their status is. Once it gets on a truck and leaves the VDC, you're pretty much just stuck waiting until your MA calls and tells you the car's at the dealership.

Thanks for the replies, all.

Something interesting: 1-866 ASK MINI can't give info on order sheets anymore, so they couldn't help me out.

However, my service agent was able to confirm the correct order, and even let me change the color of the roof to lightning blue.

I appreciate all your assistance!

My MA acutally called my house today without us even calling, just to check that we were all happy. My wife mentioned what I had noticed to him, he read off what they had in the computer, and it matched the build sheet (Deposit Form in this case). It really does seem that the OL does not have the most up to date information.

Before I ordered one, I did not really understand the ** week production support groups. I now know their pain. I now envy the people who didn't spend weeks online building just the right one, those who were flexible enough to just show up, drive and say: "That One!" Having no build date seems to be the worst stage. Though, it is the only stage I have experienced, it is indefinite, and could go on forerver.

Thanks to all!

How long does it typically take from Placing the order to driving off the dealer lot with the new car?

The biggest variable is where you're having the car shipped. I've heard of East coast buyers getting their cars in as little as 30 days, but I think six weeks is more the norm for the East coast. For West coast cars, I think two months is more typical.

Correct, it depends on where you live and how many build slots your dealer has per month and if they have a waiting list. It seems the majority of the East coast folks are averaging 4-6 weeks. The West coast between 2-3 months. I will be at just under 3 months when I take delivery of mine (hopefully this Friday). The best thing to do is to ask your MA. They know if they have a wait list, how many Minis they can actually order per month and how long it takes for them to arrive once they start production. If you haven't ordered one yet, still ask the MA and they can let you know an approximately how long it would take if you ordered it today.
