My wife and I are going to be ordering our Mini within the next couple of weeks but we were wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the car seat that is made specially for the mini cooper. If so what are your likes and dislikes? Is it worth the money? Here in Germany it is going to set us back about 250 Euro (340 Dollars) The money doesn't really matter we just want to make sure that our little one is safe. Any response would be greatly appreciated. If you haven't heard of the car seat designed for the mini or have never used it what car seats have you found to be the best?? We are ordering a '07 - '08 Mini Cooper S.

I remember reading a little bit ago that the car seat hasn't been introduced in the US? Is that true??

No I am sorry I don't, it's something that I can order from the Mini dealer over here in Germany. I can't find anything on the web about them that's why I was hoping someone on here might have heard about them.

 

We used a baby seat in my wife's MINI for a while when she was taking a friend's daughter to church regularly. I wish I could remember the brand and model, but the retention system in the MINI did a *great* job of holding it securely in place. I would imagine you would get good results out of any car seat, without having to go with a MINI-specific one.

 

My wife works every other weekend, so I cart the kids around in the MINI. They love it. It has the ISOFIX attachment points, so any newer car seat will work. My son is old enough for a booster now, though. Here's a pic:

I have seen pictures of NAM members here using Britax Marathron car seats. I have the same and plan to use it if I need to... my son usually will ride in BMW though.

 

I was in Montreal a few weeks back and naturally I had to stop by the local MINI dealership located in Laval. I picked up some brochures which had pics of the carseat, but no price (i don't have kids so there was no need for me to ask for prices). You can call them directly (I just did a search on their website but couldn't find any info on it) at 450-682-1212 to get prices/more info. (As you can see there are 2 versions.)
