Location of Bluetooth ULF Module ?

Does anyone know where the Bluetooth ULF module is physically located? Mine was disconnecting every so often, now it will not connect at all. I want to reset it by unplugging it. Thanks.

Easiest to perform the following;

1. Remove battery cables, negative first
2. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
3. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
4. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.

Thanks Tom, but I don't want to lose all of my settings (radio, nav, etc.). If I can locate the module, I can reset it. I have to do this on my X5, every so often.

On the MINI, the BT module should be located behind the speedo/glovebox. Not an easy item to get to on a regular basis.

Coffeeman,

I had the same problem. I took delivery of my mini back in May. The Voice Recognition never worked and the bluetooth would constantly not pair up. Sometimes it would be completely random when it would pair up to my phone.
I had tried everything, like deleting the pair, recreating the pair, etc. Nothing fixed it.

My phone was on the "approved" list as well. Motorola Q. Eventually I brought it in to get the Voice Recognition button fixed. In doing so, they updated my firmware, and voila, now my phone pairs up every time. No questions asked.

Thanks Bludy,

It appears that my Bluetooth module is fried. As it was explained to me by my SA, the phone would send the address book every time that it paired, filling up the bluetooth module's memory, and corrupting it. It works fine on my X5, but as I was told, BMW uses a different bluetooth implementation than MINI. Why they would re-invent the wheel is beyond me, but we all know how crappy BMW electronics are. The module needs to be replaced. I'm waiting to hear from the dealer on what their next step is. I suspect that MINI USA has no clue on how to fix it, so I think that a battle is looming on the horizon.

I've been looking for this as well... the best I can come up with is that the BT is on the left side of the trunk.

@Coffeeman,

I'm sorry but I just don't buy that. If you believe what your SA is telling you on that one, then I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you. While I don't doubt that your BT module is fried, I do find it hard to believe that simply sending the phone's address book to it everytime the phone pairs had anything to do with it. Other R56 owners have their phones doing the same thing and they don't seem to be having the problem. Thus, I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's another problem with the module.

Just my $0.02...

I agree, but BMW did have the same problem with early BMW ULF's that had Bluetooth & BMW Assist. As it was explained to me, phone book entries on the MINI saty in the ULF forever, even if one unpairs the phone. Given BMW's limited electronics expertise, it would not surprise me if this is the case...

Hmm... That's a strange one indeed.

So your problem still hasn't been sorted out yet? I'd think that at the very least they'd put a new module in the car just to get you on your way for the time being anyway.
