2008 Guinness World Record Attempt (July 26, 2008)

I saw this on the Forum; however, nothing on the National Calendar.
Is this hosted by a local club? Count me in if this is a go.

Hi!

Yes, this event is hosted by C7M (Se7en Cities MINI). If you haven't already done so, please visit our website: www.sevencitiesmini.com

We also have other fun events scheduled in the near future:

(8/12): 2nd Annual MINI Pride Run to benefit the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund

(10/7): 2nd Annual Ferry Run to benefit CHKD (Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters)

Participation is free...lots of fun, raffles, and great socializing, too!

Why bother even having a forum on NAM if you just plan on sending everyone on a wild link chase?

Just post the info here as well or get rid of the forum and just make a post in another forum with your link...

I do agree with that. If your going to have space on NAM, why not use it, as opposed to having everything sent back to C7Ms site, where everyone must register again to reply to posts started here.

Looking forward to showing up with the right car this time.

Made the hubby take me by while the Minis were lining up so that we could compare some different colors and options. What a great group of people, although I was an outcast without a Mini.

I am from Philadelphia and was lucky enough to have participated in this very well organized and extremely fun event! They are a class act. The idea is to get the date set with more info to come. Please, everyone, try to particpate next June 8, 2008 in Virginia Beach, VA. Mark your calendars! You'll be glad you did! The more, the merrier.
Best wishes,
Susan in MINI Zilla

as far as NM sounds from VA, I think we could make it!
I just checked and Albuquerque is 1,936 miles away from Virginia Beach.
29 hours away! I'll plan on coming and we'll see what happens!

"We have the sportplex once again for [June 8th] 2008. This will be a much larger undertaking. We will rent the whole facility including the Stadium and will incorporate a MINI World Soccer Tournament. This will be a day event tentatively starting at 10am and lasting into the evening. Vendors and Entertainment will be on hand. Please stay tuned for more info and if there are any comments or suggestions please lets hear them.
MINIUSA will join in to advertize and promote the event and we have the backing of the City Of Virginia Beach also. Can't wait"

As a participant in 2007, it's great fun and I'd advise you to be there. The British have already tried to take the record back and we need a healthy show of cars to make sure the record stays in the States.

They're going to need to update their expectations, as the record is now 444, set in Thailand a few weeks ago.

I thaought the Thailand record was for something different.... ie most MINIs in a parkling lot? Guinness is VERY particular regarding the criteria for any of their records.

Does anyone have more details?

Here's a strange "official" video of the Thailand event.

I have heard, though I am not sure it is true, that Thailand now holds the record for "most MINIs in a formation." Whereas this summer in VA we set the record for "most MINis in a convoy."

Representing the "late" New York City MINIs from the 07 Attempt: We'll try again to make it down this year - and if so, count on us getting there for the real festivities (not just the Beer!!)

I'll take this one on. (steps on soap box)

As someone that has scheduled several events (3 Pulley Parties and 2 Pooley Parties) I can tell you that it is a massive PITA to keep track of several attende lists. It makes perfect sense to keep everything in one place and have the main club site front end the event. (Steps down)

Cheers,
Jack

BTW I have placed this on my calendar. I will try to thaw out some of our motoring friends in the Great White North and take part in breaking the record.
