Do all R50s come with alarms? (2003)

I have an 03 (built late 2002), and there seems to be no alarm. Ive locked the doors (w/ fob) while inside waited for the motion sensor to kick in...Doesn't seem to work.

I have a red light on my dash, but doesn't blink. Would that just be a sensor for the fob?

I do have the buldge in the roof towards the rear where the motion sensor would go. Maybe its just empty.....I have all the packages incl. Nav...(no JCW), so I thought I would at least have an alarm...

Thanks...
(I just bought the car used and am trying to figure out what options I have)

**also to save a new thread, how can you tell if you have rain sensing wipers. I've turned them to the first position, but it hasn't rained yet.. Does the dealer have to program it on?)

I beleive the Alarm was a seperate item to purchase. But I have heard it is easy to install yourself. I have the rain sensing wipers and if you have a open spot before they do work you should have them. But call 1-866-275-6464 and ASK MINI. Have your VIN handy they will need it. They can tell you everything on you car and where it has been serviced at.

The little red light on the dash is not for the alarm. The MINI does not come with an alarm standard.

The alarm is not standard.
The 'light' on the dash is not a light, but a UV sensor for the auto AC.
You can pull the cover off the bulge to see if the sensor is there. You would also have a lighted stalk (red tip) on the right stalk.

You can tell if you have auto wipers by the presence of a large dark square in the top center of the windshield. Dealer does not have to program it. Note that the system automatically resets every time the car is turned off, so you have to return the stalk to the base setting, then turn it back on. If you want to test it, just turn it on and pour some water on the dark square at the center of the windshield.

. . . and you can always provide a dealer with your VIN and they can tell you exactly what factory options/packages your car has

On my '03, the alarm was an extra that I had to buy. MINI parts, Dealer installed.
