Drivetrain Variation of Horsepower seen?
A comment made in the following post
Randy's 200HP kit
prompted a question, in regards to the variation of power produced.
In general what variation of Horsepower / Torque has been seen with equally equipped/modded/ stock Coopers/ Cooper Ss with the same dyno under equal conditions, temp, humidity, etc.??
The reason I ask is that my Cooper S with the Madness intake and Magnaflow exhaust got 147.5 whp and 129.6 ftlbs torque and then 167.4whp and 144.5ftlbs torque after the pulley install?
Anyone else see #s this low with the Madness intake and Magnaflow exhaust? The post-pulley #s seem to be in line with previous reports. (in terms of gains produced)
The dyno was a dynojet and I didn't have it dynoed stock.
Did I just have the misfortune of getting a "weak" S ?
Someone I know had the pulley install and dyno at the same shop.
He had 159.6whp and 135.3ftlbs torque with Madness intake / stock exhaust and then 170.5whp and 149.4ftlbs torque post pulley install.
Odd that I produced less power with the magnaflow???
My Dyno

His, Chile RED all over / Hers, EB UJ on top.

I am getting a kit upon delivery of my car that contained a Borla exhaust, the Madness intake and a Renntech ECU - and now a pulley. After reading the forums and visiting some website, I thought that I would like the quicksilver exhaust more so I asked about swapping the Borla for a QS. They said that wouldn't be a problem, but that they've been seeing on their dyno testings that the Borla was generating more hp once the pulley was installed.
Just a thought. This is the point where my knowledge on the subject goes bye-bye, but the explanation has to do with the amount of backpressure created by the Bora compared to the other exhausts. I think Davbret has posted on this matter as well so you might want to ask him directly.

Who's THEY? Who told you the Borla is better once the pulley is installed??? (I'm considering both the quicksilver and Borla and I'd like to know what they said about the Borla (besides what Devbret already said). If the Borla is just as good or better once the pulley is installed, it's a no-brainer b/c I LOVE the Borla!
