Go to your dealer and have it reprogrammed.

you must have a dealer do this. there is a long list of items that they can program or deprogram. ask to see the list so you can get it all done at once. if it is still under warrenty it should be free.

When will someone finally develop an aftermarket programming tool for these features we should all have full access to?

haha guys.. just unplug them.

only downside is no highbeams.. but anyone with the hid option really doesnt need highbeams neways.

i did it for a while and it worked out great.

ive since gone back to a nice plasma yellow beam... purely for looks tho.

Good luck with that! My dealer (MoS) charges 1/2 hour labor for reprogramming. I told them point blank that I would not pay time for that while the car was in for something else anyway. They told me point blank that they would not program options without charging me for the 1/2 hour.

FWIW, you're better off with the DRLs anyway. It really is safer.

For things like DayTime Running lights, where they are required by law in certain countries, you'll never see the ability for the end user to turn them off. Dealers in Canada will not turn them off, even when asked, because it is illegal for them to do so...

And like findude says, they're not a bad thing anyhow.

In Canada, DRL is a requirement for cars 1990 (I think) and newer.
It is possible that on our MINIs, the DRL is controlled by a relay that can be disconnected.

...or if you have a Buick (like our other car), it will fail not too long after the warranty on the car expires.

Maybe I am missing something, but I can turn my DRL off anytime I want to. By default they are on, but on my light stalk I just turn it back, and my DRL are off. Maybe this really isn't DRL, but I can get my headlights to turn off.

Thanks,

Ken

I'm more interested in the other programmable features, like key activated windows and sunroof, auto door locking, etc. There are a lot of dealer programmable features that should be accessable by the owner.
