SIRIUS Radio
I was told at the dealership that to get Sirius up and running will cost about $850. That's atrocious! I'd rather spend the $250 + install for XM, which is cheaper monthly, too!
Can anyone confirm this price?

*cough* mp3s *cough* cdburner *cough*
Well my mp3 collection is now up to about 2 years of non-stop music. (ie. if I start playing now and don't stop, it will still be playing a different song 2 years from now)
Granted it will be a lot nicer when they figure out how to get the Aux plug to work and I can plug my iPod in.
Odds are you already have a cd burner if you bought your computer within the last year (maybe two) so all you really need are some cd's and mp3s. Cd's are dirt cheap so I think I'll pass on XM or sirrus. I just don't like the idea of paying monthly for something like that.

FOR WHAT!!!!!
I've been interested in the satellite radio route as well. But I've got the Nav system so a MINI system isn't gonna happen.
I'm looking at XM, to me they seem to be the most stable of the two. They been on the market longer and have a larger subscriber base. Plus I read a review that said that XM had the better sound quality. However since that review was written Sirius has changed their compression algorithm which may have improved their quality.

I have a huge CD and mp3 collection, and I whip up a custom mix anytime I feel the need. Sirius claims to be all commercial free, whereas XM has some channels with ads. Still, I don't need another monthly bill.
Many times the sound of the engine is all I need to hear.

GO satellite, and GO sirius.
First off, I have no commercial interest in promoting satellite radio...
But I have had both XM and Sirius, and I can say that listening to your mp3 collection simply is NOT equivalent to what you get out of satellite radio. Sirius has better stations and NO commercials, whil more than have of XM stations have commericials.
My sirius system cost me a total of about $500 installed, and that includes a brand new head unit.

Just was looking at the new crutchfield catalog. Starting Aug 3. If you buy a Sirius ready, Kenwood unit and an antenna, you get a free Sirius Tuner. I think the head-units start around $150 and the antenna is $50.
I like XM but I was intrigued to see that Sirius carries every MLB game. Hopefully they'll offer similar sports packages for football.
