glove box stereo install?

first post here

my cars been ordered and from everything I read you can't take the stock radio/cd player out of the car. Wondering if the glove box is big enough enough to fit an aftermarket cd player. I planned on getting one with a remote...

any ideas? I've done plenty of installs so I'm either going to try this or just hook up an amp to the speakers through the original radio. subs would be hooked up with either choice though

Yes, plenty of room in the glove box, it's actually pretty roomy. BUT, the CD player in the car is fine, why sould you add antoher one?? I understand an amp, replacement speakers, or most importantly a Subwoofer, but a CD player??

If you are talking 2007, there is also enough room in the "hidden compartment" if you remove the box they put in if you don't get the cd changer or i-pod adapter.

because he wants to drive that amp w/ a good head unit. Im sure that mini head unit cant compare to an alpine one.

did you get nav. if you did go with the alpine oem integration system they have it will basically be an aftermarket head unit expect for the screen. if you didn't get nav, you could always go with an audio control DQL-8. just throwing out some ideas

The stock head unit is actually pretty good. Sure you don't have RCA pre-outs which would be best but with a good high-low converter all but audiophiles will never be able to tell the difference.
I'm running the stock unit with aftermarkets amps and speakers and love the way it sounds. If you want all the phase change and eq options that some headunits offer just go with something like a RF 360.

I'm open to ideas, I could use the stock HU but I wanted to be able to use mp3 disks and the standard HU doesn't play those I don't think....nvr looked into "an audio control" ill check that out though, still a month and a half until I get my car probably anyways

Really ? I thought they are Becker (HK) ? At least the one in my 2006 MCCa looks a lot like the one my F-i-L had in his 530...

I didn't know that!!! Cool. Any idea what speakers they use in the HiFi? I know the high-end speakers in the R53 were Harman Kardon, but what does the R56 use?

The new head unit does actually play mp3 disks if that is of interest to you.

I thought the hifi upgrade was the only system that plays mp3s, if not that opens up a bunch of choices o things I could do....
