Please help me locate MINI with VIN

Hello! a newbie here. this is a bit of an odd situation. I called my dealer 3 weeks ago and told him the exact car i was looking for. He said there is one en route and they could secure it for me. He sent me the buyer's agreement and i sent a deposit. Now, the day it is supposed to be at my dealer, i call him and he tells me that it was damaged at port and i cannot get it. They can locate another, but it will be about another 3 or 4 weeks to get to port. I tracked it on miniusa with the vin and it says it is at the dealer. I am suspicious that they did not secure this car, or someone else sold it, or something. Can someone locate 'which' dealer this car is at with the VIN number PLEASE. VIN is WMWRH33507TL95523. Thank you so much for the help!!

I don't know how to do what you asked, but I am willing to bet, the dealer sold it to someone else, either for a higher price, or to a more "important" customer. Contact ASKMINI. On the other hand, the website is notorious for being wrong/slow. It's usually behind, though, so if it says it is at the dealer, it probably is, or was. It could have been damaged in trucking, though.

Welcome to NAM!

If they've sold it, someone else owns it. You won't be able to get it. If it really was damaged, you don't want it. So other than giving the dealer a hard time, what can they really do? Sounds like they messed up, but I don't think you're going to be getting that car.

Usually if the damage at the port isn't severe they will repair it at the port. You will then get the car just delayed.

try calling 1800askmini. maybe they can help. But there are some situations that a vehicle will be so damaged that it has to stay longer at port (VDC) to be fixed or i such bad shape that it can't be released from port. Also online tracking is just an estimation of time and location.

If they did sell it, MINI should be aware of what the dealer did. They may not care, and it won't get you that car, but at least it's something and, if they did sell it, you will know to go to another dealer you can trust.

Carfax says this:

VIN WMWRH33507TL95523 Year/Make/Model: 2007 MINI COOPER S Body Style: CONVERTIBLE Engine Type: 1.6L L4 FI DOHC 16V Manufactured In: GERMANY Search Results: 0 records found in our database What is a Record? CARFAX did not find any records on this 2007 MINI COOPER S. Typically this occurs with new cars or light trucks.
The CARFAX Database contains over 4 billion records concerning cars and light trucks manufactured for the North American market since 1981. We're unable to produce reports on other vehicles at this time.

So not much help there sorry!.

Carfax requires someone to report vehicle info to it. It does not automatically acquire VIN info. So, for the most part, it is meaningless.

yes, i did call the ask MINI number and she told me that the car was out of production and that was as much as she could see. she said to check the mini lounge, which i did, and that is where it says it is at my dealer. just a couple days ago, it was listed as at port still. very puzzled here. thanks to anyone who can track it with VIN.

If your dealer is local, go visit or check their storage yard and see if you see it...

Go here and enter your VIN:

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto

All it really tells you though, is that it was discharged from the ship.

Ask MINI told me the same thing with both of my cars. Once it's picked up by the shipper they can no longer track it. The owners lounge seems to be at least a week late with its info.

hm... maybe not the best idea to post the VIN number? The dealer may have done wrong, but posting the VIN number of a potential MINI owner isn't nice.

thank you all for your input. It is true, that i don't want it if it is damaged. My thought on posting the VIN is that if it is damaged beyond repair, it doesn't really matter since no one will ever actually own the car anyway. My search for my mini continues! thank you all again!

What a shame all the way around.

I think I'd find another dealer, just in case they played a fast one for a more important customer.
