MCS vs Si...

I've noticed that at some point when the MCS is almost giving all its potential, the Si beats it! I guess is because of its high revs engine, the V-TEC is great, but now that I have put the 15% pulley on my MCS + K&N CAI, it feels really stronger and powerful! I love my Mini!

Does anybody knows any real statistics about MCS R53, Civic Si, RSX-S, Sentra SE-R Spec-V and Celica GTS...?

Most folks are smart enough to not race on the street. Sorry you aren't one of the smart ones. People that street race are IDIOTS!!! You endanger other people on the road & care not about them. There are many race tracks out there for you to play on. Why not grow up & use one?

Idiots that street race don't deserve the privilege of a drivers license.

I have raced hundreds of cars. All on a race track & have endangered no one , but myself.

My advice to you is to find the local race track. Sell your MINI & buy that dream SI you lust after. You are giving all MINI owners a bad name through your stupid & selfish actions.

First - I have never raced. Don't insult me by insisting that I have.

Second - No matter how little traffic and how late at night, racing on any public road - especially at the speeds you cite - is FOR IDIOTS! You're a danger to yourself and others, and you're not as good a driver as you think you are.

Third - Talk of street racing and excessive speeding is a No-No on this board, and you'll get booted off if you keep it up.

The Civic Type R is a cool little hot hatch that does compete with the MINI Cooper S, and Golf GTI. Of course Honda, in their infinite wisdom, doesn't bring many Type R cars over to the US, presumably because they would cut into Acura sales. The Si, is placed between the regular Civic and the Type R, but why would one buy the Si over the Type R?

But in the words of my favorite Top Gear presenter, Jeremy Clarkson (so pretend you are hearing this in an English accent...) "We like the Honda, it's a great little hot hatch, but at the end of the day, if you bought one, you driving, well, driving a Honda!" Personally, no comparisson with a MINI!

*and JC didn't say exactly those words, but close*

couldn't have said it better myself!

The civic and the gti are both hatches that are in the compact or subcompact car class (i forget which). But the MINI is a premium compact/subcompact car.

and a civic... no matter how many letters you put behind it..... is still.... just a civic?! nothing special or unique about em to me.

I know i bought my MINI because i wanted something different, unique, and a lot of fun to drive. Civic doesn't do any of those really well, IMHO.

Civics do make good daily driver/commuter cars. But so does a MINI! So you won't see me buying a civic in the near future.

MINI is always gonna be a better track car than a civic.

just my $.02

What I like is when street racers get caught, and they have the pleasure of watching their stupid *ss cars get crushed.

I'll defend the Civic Si a bit. Yeah, the MINI is more fun and interesting (I think), but I would never discount the Si as "just a Honda". Despite their sometimes bland styling and "boring" reliability (as if that's a bad thing? Frankly, I'd think MINI owners would appreciate some more of that), Honda has a long tradition of racing-bred technology and peppy, fun cars. If the current Civic Si had been around a few years ago when I was looking to replace my '93 Civic Si, I'd probably be driving one. As it happened, the '03 Si was one of those blandly styled Hondas that was lagging behind the class in performance at the time.

Oh, and if I may be the grammar police (or whatever the correct term would be) for a bit, the Civic Si is no longer a hatch, hot or otherwise.

No need to defend the Si from me. Very nice cars, but when they dropped the hatch here in the states it fell off my want to buy list.

I have owned alot of different cars in my life from many different segments and countries. Each groups forms little groups (much easier with the interweb) and sit around telling tales of why their particular brand is better than XYZ brand. Somewhere right now on a Honda forum they are talking about the reliability of Mini's, we talk about Honda's not having a soul and being low rent. Mustang guys bag on Camaro's, Porsche guys bag on Vettes, Foreign vs domestic, on the Subaru forums they laugh at Mini guys for being excited for about 5-10hp gains, Mini guys would laugh at STi guys getting 10-12 mpg around town.

Everyone has different preferences and what makes a real car guy is being able to appreciate all fun cars reguardless of orgins.

BTW, street racing is stupid and dangerous. Go do an HPDE, drag track, autocross, drifting event, rallycross, ice racing, etc...... There are alot of ways to get involve in motorsport without street racing.

What did you think you'd get? A pat on the back & an attaboy? You indulge your selfish desire to race on the street. You endanger other Innocent people by doing it. My family & friends drive on public streets that you so called racers use as tracks. You don't get it??

I'm sorry if you somehow feel I've wronged you. That being said I stand by what I have posted.

Now tell me something? Why do you indulge in such a risk taking behavior? Don't you care about others??

You're posting on a MINI forum, asking which of these cars are best? Come on, you expect non-biased, straight answer.

IMO, If you bought your MINI for straight line performance, I think you missed the boat. Why not look into C&D, they had an article that had some of these cars in it recently...I think you'll find the answers you are looking for.

BTW, you can sell your MINI on cars.com...they also have some good SI's out there for you to purchase.

And you're in a MINI forum with a Mazdaspeed's pic?... mmm...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just asking about statistics... If anybody knows any about those cars, please post it.

Thanks

At least I know where to go if I need straight line performance You would need to read some other statements of mine to know why that is there...

Seriously, read the article. It has the SpecV, MINI, MS3, WRX, and the GTI. The RSX is a dead car...and they stated SI wasn't invited because it couldn't even complete in the previous contest. It will give you all the numbers you need and a C&D biased result. 'nuff said.

From what I've read, the only two cars of the ones you listed that matter in terms of performance are the MCS and Civic Si, and for pure dragstrip performance, the Mazdaspeed 3 will beat both of them.

If you're comparing an R53 MCS to the current Civic Si, a better comparison would be a JCW MCS, which has a similar power rating to the Si. The Si's VTEC engine favors high revs, at the expense of low-end power. The JCW doesn't do much better (if at all) on the low end, but it has the top-end power that the regular MCS doesn't have. A drag race (ON A TRACK) between a current Civic Si and an '06 JCW would be an interesting match.

aw cmon guys. be nice to the new guy. could have at least proposed your ideas and wat not nicely. (not trying to make anything worse or anything like that)
just one of the BIG reasons i LOVE these forums is cause there's almost no flaming. (well some..but almost none) so i hate it when i see it.
but i must admit. sometimes it is quite fun to watch people flame at each other. but a def no no.

and not to sound like a nub. but i'd be interested in seeing statistics on all those cars including other ones too. of course anyone can search for it. but people on here has got to know exact information on each car. maybe?
and another reason why people may post to see statistics on here is to pretty much spark a conversation. have some fun compaing cars. see how much we love our mini's despite the fact they may be "better" cars out there. so on and so forth..
