Audio package for $1400...worth it?

So is the new audio package worth it? Free Sirius for life, 10 speaker stereo, and HD. Thoughts? I cant believe the cd changer isnt part of the package.

Well, these is it worth it questions. You'll get a variety of responses. Some will say yes, some will say no. It all depends on you. The question is, is it worth it to you?

I forgot to say, Welcome to NAM!

You can tell from my signature that I ordered the audio package.

The Hifi package is worth the extra $550. But the rest is not.

I still don't understand why anyone would PAY for radio!! Burn your own MP3 CD's and be done with it. ;-)

Actually, I feel the opposite of Birdman.

The MINI hifi upgrade is mediocre at best. The highs and mids are pretty good, but the bass is muddy and basically from hunger! So unfortunately, I'm going to have to spend some extra $$ on improving the bass and overall quality. But that's the price I pay for being a seasoned musician and semi-audiophile. You may absolutely adore the hifi upgrade.

I don't want to be bothered downloading my fav tunes, burning CDs or working my iPod all the time. I'd rather have satellite's very very broad array of music available to me based on the mood I'm in at any given time. Since the cost of the Audio Package is the same as buying the Sirius subscription and hifi upgrade alone, it's a no brainer to get the package with 'free' HD; so that's what I did.

The only negative about the MINI lifetime satellite deal is that the membership belongs to your car, not you. Own the car over five years (apx.) and you'll either break even or come out way ahead. Less than that, you may want to consider a portable aftermarket XM or Sirius unit.

Oh yeah, one more thing. The reason one pays for satellite radio is to not deal with commercials on music stations and to have virtually every type of music, uncensored comedy, uncensored talk, etc. available to you at all times. If, however, you are satisfied with top 40 hip hop, country, hard rock, Mix 101, the best of FCC censorship, and other middle of the road goodies, then perhaps don't bother with satellite radio.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your music!

Ipod

I just ordered the hi-fi upgrade and plan on using my Ipod. without the expensive ipod interface. It works great I have been doing it for 4 years in my element. have thousands of your favorite tunes with no CDs flying around your car. Besides radio pretty much sucks, except maybe NPR

I've still got about 3 weeks until delivery...but I've already got 5 MP3 CD's burned. 50 hours of music will give me a good start.

I just missed the cut off for the package. I really only wanted factory sirius though. My car is a week old and has the base audio and it sounds ok. Some songs sound really good and some not so good. Some people with the audio upgrade don't like it either so if both are sub par or ok at best, why spend the money through the factory. Go after market I guess. For me, the standard radio sounds fine. I will be adding dealer sirius when available as I don't want another small unit cluttering up the interior. Having said all this, I wanted to spend $1,400 for the package and would get it if I had a second chance.

Hifi works great in mine, still not Harmann Kardon, but for the price, you get a lot
