Mini of the Hamptons

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about a car from Mini of the Hamptons being delivered to the west coast "dinged up"... I took delivery of my car from them today, and herd the real story. Not only did they handle it properly, they gave a full refund for the car. And, it turned out most of the damage was done by the purchaser!! At delivery, the car only had a dead battery and small scratch on a peice of trim which the trucking company pointed out they had done, and said they would replace. Mini of Hamptons refunded the $$ anyway!!

And to top it off, I factory ordered my car from them on 6/2, and received it today on 7/3. They told me about 6 weeks, that's more like 4 weeks!!!! again:

Really a great dealership, freindly and honest which is no small feat in todays world. And no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way.... just bought a mini from them. Anywhoozle!!

Thanks Mini of the Hamptons!!!

Minibird looks great

I'm partial to the DS, of course minibird would have looked better with a white top.

It good you had a great experince with your MINI Dealer and they fixed the other problem that was noted on NAM.

Nice picture, I like the evening affect, did you use a silver filter.

Enjoy the drive.

I gotta say, I saw that car in person the day after it was towed to NW MINI (only a few hours after delivery)... it was f-ed up. Period.

I can't argue that MINI of the Hamptons did right by buying that car back... I would question though, if you heard the "REAL" story or not. I would also be disappointed that a Motoring Advisor from MINI of the Hamptons would feel it was approprite to relay his or her interpritation of the "REAL" story to a new customer like that. Last I heard, iTao was re-ordering through them despite his set-back:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=mini+hamptons

I personally would be pretty upset if I were re-ordering through the same dealership after an experience like that, only to find out they were suggesting to other customers that I had actually caused the damage in the first place!

Seemed like a stand-up way to handle the original situation with iTao. I was very impressed at the time. I'm somewhat less than impressed now... but I'll err on the side of caution and choose instead to believe that you probably just misunderstood what your MA was telling you reference iTao's situation.

Minibird looks great! My favorite color, also. How is the factory alarm? I bet the heartbeat LED on top of the tach looks very cool....

are mini of the hamptons cheaper than MSRP? Or are people using them because local dealers were above msrp?

I have no doubt that MINI of the Hamptons is a great dealership...so many folks have worked with them over the years. Glad "whatever happened" was sorted out. It bears remembering that for all of NAM's incredible strengths, it's really just a forum and we get half stories and incomplete information and random opinions all the time....and man, we can run with all of it!! It's just the nature of things...not a fault really. NAM demographics are skewed as well...we are far from representing a true cross-section of MINI owners. Again...no fault, just best to love NAM for what it is than rant about what it is not.

Okay that was all OT (but still true)........very nice MINI!!!!

Thanks, my favorite color too. Factory alarm is great. I love the squeek sound it makes when locking or un-locking, very unique of course! The heartbeat is pretty cool too...

MSH,
I came to most of those conclusions on my own, from the small amount of info I received from the pictures and story here, and the story from the mngr at Mini, and what the driver (guy who delivered the car across country) had said. I asked them, and they simply gave me a little of the story. I won't get into details, but the story is very easy to put together when you hear a few of the facts, trust me.

The good thing is, they handled it perfectly as you noted and everyone is happy.

Thanks Tig!! Me want's to play too, with my mini!!!! ah, wait.... well, never mind, you know what I mean!!

Minibird is actually, much more beatiful than that picture. It was dark and grey out in that pic, it was tough lighting to get a good picture. When I get the chrome bonet scoop on, a nice peace sign American flag badge in the grill, and some better lighting, then I'll get some real pics.

I was following that story, and I didn't read anything about any of damage done by purchaser, iTao. I thought he didn't even have a chance to drive it, so how was he able to cause all those damages? Did Mini of Hamptons say he purposely damage the vehicle more so he could get a full refund?

No. He took delivery of the car, with one small scratch on a peice of trim, that the trucker did during shipment. The truck driver agreed with the purchaser to pay for replacing the trim peice, so they took delivery. The car was then returned hours later, with the additonal damage. Being that the battery was low/dead, and the damage is in the rear of the car, one can come to an easy conclusion that a push was attempted (either to get it started, or maybe out of roadway....).

Thats it, very simple. if all that damage was there at delivery, why would they have taken it?

I couldn't agree with you more

As I followed that thread as well, I thought everything was dealt with very well by both parties. This should not be brought up again unless iTao or MINIOFHAMPTONS have something further to say.

This has flamebait written all over it. Why post this? If you weren't there (and you weren't) then why are you taking second hand information (at best) and proclaiming it to be the gospel?

"Gospel"?? I posted my opinion. I posted it because the whole story sounded fishy to me the minute I read it. Hearing the 2nd half of it, made it even more fishy. Now, having herd both stories PERSONALLY, I have more info than anyone, so why not post it? Beleive me, I was watching it very closely as that is where I bought my car and was about to take delivery. It could have go ne either way, and if it went the other way (sour), I would have posted that too.

And just maybe, somebody in my area (LI) or thinking of getting a car shipped, now has more info to base a decision on. Nothing wrong with that. ;-)

That's true... and it would be accomplished just the same if you simply wrote what a great experience you had with them...

Probably wise. In hindsight, I'm sorry I opened the door. Chalk it up to a late night of 4th fun affecting my judgement.

Beautiful car, by the way. But I am partial to Dark Silver .

No. They sell at MSRP, but their shipping rate is lower than the markup some dealerships are charging.

Also the wait seems to be shorter than we generally get here in the Pacific Northwest.
