Grassroots Garage becoming M7 dealer!!!
Grassroots Garage becoming M7 dealer!!!
I've been working with M7 on becoming their dealer/installer for the North Carolina region and we're in the final steps in the process.
I'm about to place a large order from them and would really like to know what products everyone is considering installing on their MINIs!
Please visit the site ( www.m7tuning.com ) to see all of their exceptional products and reply if there are any you are looking to put on your MINI soon.
Dealers cannot discount their prices, but I am willing to discount the labor on any M7 parts ordered in this introductory order. Give us a call at the shop if you've got any questions!
Cheers,
Dan

Congrats Dan. After the school year comes back, I will be back to working on the MINI, and will put together a list of things from M7. I know of a few things, and will let you know what they are. Very cool.

M7 Strut Re-Inforcement Plates (I'd go for the strut bar, but I don't want to deal with the raised hood issue and M7 Under Strut System.
I'm not ready at this time, but these are items I would be interested in.

Hello Zippy, good to see you at the Performance Center last Sunday. Since i saw you then I've bought a used M7 DFIC and some new M7 IC boots bolts and foam for the DFIC. I'm interested in the plates and strut bar but worried about the hood issues. From what i've read you should soak the underside and let it mold to the new shape. Have you tried this?
I'm very excited - now I don't have to wait for shipping from CA.
Just have one of everything on hand - to start!!!!
No J/K but I will flip thru site and let you know what's next - but it
might be a couple of months before I'm ready to purchase.

I have my first order going in this week, I will not stock everthing for starters, but will try to keep some of the more popular items on hand, everything else is just a few day away.
Bluesmini, No I have not tried the soaking thing, but it sounds like it should work. Mycousin and I had a blast at the Performance Center, we were ready to do it again as soon as we left
Luke, I will do my best to get your stuff in on time, I sent you an e-mail. It was you order that got me looking at the M7 line, I really don't know why I've stayed away from it this long.
Cheers,

Bluesmini,
I installed a JCW strut bar and dealt with the hood liner clearance issue thusly:
1. determine where the bar lives relative to the liner by tracing its outline onto the liner
2. remove the liner and CAREFULLY scrape the batting material away from the upper surface of the liner where the outline of the bar indicates leaving only the black cloth lower surface. I allowed about 1/2" extra outside the outline to allow for a transition from zero batting to normal thickness. On the side above the driver's side strut the liner is quite thin already and compressed to about 1/8", so be very careful there. It's also where there is least clearance.
3. I then covered the valley I created with high temp RTV (silicone glue) , laid a piece of plastic sheeting over the glue and reinstalled the liner. I then laid a folded-over towel (1 fold) along the bar and gently closed the hood. I allowed a couple of hours for the RTV to set up and removed the towel. The valley shape was then held in place by the glue and plastic sheeting.

I've got the STB... and the soaking trick does work. Just take a spray bottle filled with water and get the underside felt good and wet where it contacts the Bar. Close the Bonnet and your golden. The underhood material will conform, to the bar.
Just had the new cold air box, front splitter and rear spoiler all M7 installed, plus new chrome Gas cover and Alta Racing Header by the ZIP. Looks great and sounds great!!! Stop Drooling! Luke
