Alta Sporttone exhaust install?

I'm looking for an exhaust for my 06 MCS. I just installed a 15 % pulley and a CAI. I like the idea of a single muffler to reduce weight. I've read some post about people having issues with the Alta and the install. It looks like some people have issues centering the exhaust tips and/or the tips moving around once the exhaust is installed. I don't mind working on my car but I'd rather be driving my car. Has anyone installed a Alta Sporttone exhaust recently (ie last 6 months) and can you tell me your experiences?
TIA

I did it myself. The hardest thing was getting the car jacked up . Everything went very smooth. But your right, the tips did come out alittle crooked. I took took it to my exhaust guy, and for $20 he straightened it out . I love the way it performs and sounds .

I installed one on my '06 just a week ago. I did it myself and the install was fairly straight forward. Having seen the "old-style" hangers I can see how it would slide side-to-side a lot. There really isn't much to keep it from moving. On an '06 the inner hanger is different and I think that helps keep it from moving as much. The tip alignment isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. I'll snap a pic when I get a second. I don't think my OEM exhaust tips were aligned perfectly. Just a thought.

I too have the Alta, and I love it. It did take some adjusting to get the tips to stay centered, but I love the sound, and the install was easy.

The only problem is that the tips are a little crooked when you look straight down the bumper, but other wise not noticable.
I have had several people look at mine and the only time it was seen was when I pointed it out.

had no problems on the 3'' just tweek the hangers and it stays put. but it's loud and does make power. also wrap a hose clamp around the hangers and tighten them down only a little and that stops all movement. a little trick i learned installing exhausts on subaru's.

Wrap a hose clamp around what exactly? The rubber part? Just curious.

I know everyone thinks ALTA had forgotten about all the R53 guys and have moved on to the R56 crowd. We keep saying this is just not the case. We have many new things we are doing for the R53. One is the exhaust.

First off, current exhaust owners should have no problem installing the system and adjusting the tip. If anyone has had problems please call us, and we will help with explaining how to do it. You should never have to go to a muffler shop!!

With that said, we do get enough calls, and people wanting more adjustablilty, that we made a new version!

VERSION 2.0!
The current system consists of a single sided 2.5" straight through 304SS tubing. The same basic design holds true for Version 2.0 but with some very cool new features!

1. The midsection is now connected using high tech V-band flanges and V-band clamps. Same as we use on the R56 exhaust.
2. The tubing we are using 18G instead of 16G. This saves quite a bit of weight, with out sacrificing durabiltiy. This roughly saves 8lbs! So we can offer better shipping prices also! Also this makes the ID a little bigger, netting more HP!
3. The tips are now a round dual wall tip which will eliminate any possible issues with melting bumpers. They are still Stainless steel, and highly polished, so they are easy to keep clean. Since they are dual wall there will be no issues with discoloration.
4.The tips are now adjustable left to right and up and down in the bumper. This helps with putting the Tip where YOU like it!
5. The inner hanger has a little more adjustment to it to help make the tips adjustable in rotation slightly.

All these great new changes, and the price is staying the same!!

One more thing we are adding is an oval tip. So you will have the abiltity to pick and choose a tip to your liking also.

Like we keep saying the R53 guys are still important, and just wait, you will many other new parts and changes!

yes wrap a hose clamp that is the correct length and is as wide as the dougnut. just tighten it a little and this makes a huge difference in how much the exhaust can move/swivel around on it's hangers.

Unlike some, we are not EVER going to ditch the R53 guys. You wait to see the new things we have, and new things we are improving.
