Request for local assistance?

Hi all!
We'll be travelling from NM to VA starting 7/7 and are planning a slight detour south of Knoxville (if you get my drift!). I've searched the 'net high and low looking for some overnight lodging south of K'ville. The only place I've been able to find is the Princess in Maryville. Doesn't get very nice reviews on the travel sites. Also found the "corporate" places in Alcoa; too pricey!
Can any of you more local to the area suggest alternatives? Don't really want to stay at Fontana for just an overnight (I understand that it is very nice, and worthy of a longer stay) and Robbinsville is too far south.
Thanks for any help, and if you are near the Dragon on Monday 7/9, give a wave to the little blue foreigner!

There is a town called Alcoa just south and a bit east of Knoxville and within an easy drive to the dragon as you mention and there are some off brand places to stay there.

Hey, Kids! I'm not local (between Indy and Richmond in Indiana) but you can stay here free!!! How great a deal is that? We have friends near Knoxville, does that count? Hope you have a great trip!

No locals? OK, thanks.
Les, I've checked Alcoa, and stuff is way too expensive.
oldtrojan66, thank you kindly for the invite, however you are just a wee bit out of the way.

Try Robbinsville. You can probably get something cheap there at Microtel Inn...
