Seat moves when I brake

I just got my MCSa a week ago and started noticing that when I brake to a stop... my driver seat jolts a little bit. It almost seems like its loose. Anyone else having the same problem?

It didn't bother me at first but its getting kind of annoying. I'll definitely let them know when i do my first service.

I get it too, but only once after I either release the seat for rear-seat entry or adjust the seat in it's tracks. Seems like the left track may be slightly out of alignment with the right. First time I hit the brakes: "click", it seats. Doesn't budge after that until I release the seat again. No issues with the passenger side, so it's probably a minor adjustment to remedy.

Interesting as I've experience the exact same "problem". Certainly not something I'm, going to make special trip to the dealer to fix.

Actually, your seat probably is loose. A slip then click just means your seat isn't in it's detente. If you're not getting a slip click, your seat needs to be tightened. Does it feel loose it you try to shake it back and forth? I'd tighten my own, but if you don't have the tools, I'd call my MA, tell them you're coming and to have someone ready to tighten the thing up. Takes less than minute. You don't really want your seat to come loose while driving. I think that would be bad.

no it doesn't click. I haven't tried shaking it back and forth, nor have tools to tighten it. I'll let my MA know this weekend. thanks

Same thing on my first gen car. Hasn't gotten any better or worse in 5 years. Part of the car's character.

lucyl's problem sounds like a loose seat mount, though.

Well, my MINI isn't here yet, its somewhere in the Atlantic, so I can't speak to that car, but I had a similar problem with my Z3. They ended up removing the seat and replacing the seat rails which took a few hours. Good luck - let us know the outcome.

Finally fixed

So i finally took my MINI in for examination.

1st time, they had my MINI for 5 hours and was unable to duplicate the problem. They said that everything is bolted down tightly.

2nd time, I noticed that its actually the top portion (lumbar support) that moves. After hours of checking, it's finally been confirmed that I have a defective seat. New seat frame has been ordered.

3rd time, actual frame replacement.

I only had it for a few hours but so far I have yet to feel any movement. Very pleased.
