General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
while it was meant to be a joke about the popularity of the very deserving 56 (which I happen to like) I really thought it would take a different flavor... more humorous, tongue in cheek......
whatever...... They are both great cars and yes, the new car does not require all the mods to be a pretty stout performer
really not expecting feedback here but, people who know me know it was a joke not meant to be seriously or inflammatory...
Regardless of how many smilies you put, you came off as a total a-hole. You should've just let it die, why make ANOTHER thread to apologize? I seriously doubt anyone cares, and if anybody did get hurt, they are taking NAM way too seriously.

I don't think any of us (including me) truly appreciates how darn lucky we are to be able to drive this car, no matter what R# we own. Now go hug your MINI!!!!!
What's really funny is that all this may be the tremors of a real culture shift in MINI-dom in which owners will actually have choices to make, especially on the performance side!! First it was the R53, then the modding started, then the JCW came out, then the aftermarket went nuts, then the MCS auto, then the GP was introduced, then R56 arrived, and soon...a whole new JCW kit!! Seems there's always something new on the horizon in the MINI world, which leaves one with the question....does one follow the latet new thing, or does one simply pick a platform and go from there? More options for more owners?? Seems the whole R-Wars thing (hey, I just made that up!!) will have to give way to more intelligent conversation, less about "which is better" and more about "choose your MINI-weapon."
R-Wars!! The morale of the story: If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.
I gotta love mine for another 10 years until the spare parts aren't available anymore. That's the only excuse my s.o. accepts for me getting a newer (but used) car.
