Rear View Camera vs. Rear Sonar Sensors
Rear View Camera vs. Rear Sonar Sensors
I am so used to the rear "sonar" sensors on our Expedition that I want to add some sort of back-up protection to my MINI. I can't decide between the back-up camera or the beeping sensors, or both. Does anyone know of an aftermarket device that incorporates both? If not, which would you suggest? Thanks!
I've seen both advertised and I've seen a couple rear camera mods on here. You'll need some type of screen to view it on-like a GPS or just a small monitor. I don't thing you can add a aftermarket stereo unit on your 07 as you don't a standard DIN slot. I have seen a "sonar" set up that also acts as a tag frame, that might be the easiest mod for you. I'll check around, I know I saw it in the back of Motor Trend or Road and Track mag.
Thanks. I know what equipment is available. I haven't seen one that incorporates both technologies, though. If there isn't, I am just looking for opinions as to which to get and why. Obviously, the camera lets me see what's there. But the "sonar" eliminates the need to judge distances. I'm not looking for something to integrate into the NAV. Independent systems are fine.
