Ok, so i figured id try to get together all the local Mini's. Or at least those in North/central Jersey area and do a small "Mini" meet for coffee at a local Starbucks or any other coffee joint (im open to suggestions) somewhere around here. I frequent the Starbucks in Linden and Union on 22, but im willing to travel to another. Im a newbie to NJ, so thankfully i got Nav now!

I dont know where you guys all hangout, but i see Plenty of Mini's around Union! I get waves,smiles and Thumbs-up from you guys as we drive by eachother but i have no idea what your username is here, Or even if you are a member here! Theres at least 3 that are nicely modified here in town, but ive yet to actually catch up to them and chat.

Anyway, the S2000 group i belong to does a Starbucks meet about once every 2 weeks or so somewhere in NY and so do the Subbies. So i figured why not do a Mini meet there? For those who dont drink coffee or have never been in a Starbucks, not to worry. They have cold tea and fruity drinks as well The Starbucks in Linden has plenty of parking so that we can all park together, and its not too busy at nite. We can do this during the week after dinner time or a weekend.

So post up some suggestions/comments please ! Id like some feedback ! I see plenty of NJ guys posting elsewhere in various forums on here EXCEPt the NJ forum. So lets get together if only for an hour and chat Mini's!

 

I am from central jersey (East Windsor). let me know when and where and I will try to come.

A lot of the NJ folks hang-out in NEMINI.org. check them out as they have a lot of mini-meets and rallys scheduled throughout the year.

 

I'm down. Even though I'm in NY, I'm just a bridge ride away from NJ. The Linden Starbucks sounds good since parking is a plenty.

Someone posted a similar get together a couple of months ago but only one other MINI showed up . I feel sooo bad I couldn't make it. Let's try to get this one going.

Im really surprised that there is so little activity and forum posts/ get to gethers here. On another car forum im on, they plan get togethers once a week or so! Weather permitting of course. And ironically, i see so many Mini's running around town.

OK, if no one else wants to meet, it'll be just us two. Let me know when is good for you, my schedule is very flexible so i can get together any nite.

 

I don't live to far from Linden. So I'll try to make it there. When will we figure out what time will it be.

OK, i was thinking to do this sometime after dinner time. Maybe like 7-8pm-ish ??? What do you guys think ? I belive they are open until 10pm so Even if we were to do this at 8pm-ish, it still gives us enough time to hangout and chat Mini's and whatever else. Is everyone ok with that ? Let me know, im open to making it later or earlier to accomodate everyone

I think if youre gettin off the bridge, youre going to take a left onto rte 1&9 South to Linden. The Starbucks is in the Home-Depot Plaza, right near Linden Airport about a mile down on the left.

OK, a few things to mention. I posted this on NEMINI.org and seems like we may have a member or two interested in meeting as well.

Is friday nite too soon for this ? What do you guys think ??? Funk-Flex, we could do this 8pm or so, so you can meet up. Let me know...

 

I checked out your thread on nemini.org. Do most people have problems with Starbucks b/c they're a huge corporation yada yada yada who charges $4 for a cup of coffee? Or people just don't care for the taste of their coffee?

Me, I would like to see more mom and pop kinda establishments. But I'm straying waaay off topic here. .

OK, I looked up the specific address on their website and I see it on google maps. I think I can meet up with you guys on Friday at 8pm.

Yeah, i noticed that. They are going WAY off topic there. I havent replied in that forum just yet. So what if they charge $4 a cup of coffee? Just like bars charge $4 or more for a beer, and a good glass of wine will cost you $7 or more. The point is to gather as many of us Mini nuts as we can, have a drink snack or whatever and hangout for awhile. Everyne is complaining about it, but i see no one starting thier own Thread to do a dinner meet or similar meet etc etc. I did suggest if someone had another coffee shop in mind, and no one has done so, so Starbucks it is. Geeze, shoot me for trying to get some Mini owners together!

I too love the little "mom and pop" type of Cafe's and buisnesses that are disapearing. But keep in mind, i am new to New Jersey and i do not really know where all those type of places are around here! In CT i know of a few. Ive heard of this coffee shop "Von Goh's" in Union, but ive yet to go there and i dont know what the parking is like.

Hi Port, I will swing by tomorrow. I Can't stay that long as I have to do some errands. btw, can you post that exact location address. I looked it up and they are showing 2 locations in the Linden vicinty. One in West Edgar rd, Linden and the other one is in Rt 9 (woodbridge).

I can't give a definite answer because my grandma is in the hospital and I must visit her every day. Friday 8 pm is still a possibility. I'll just see if my parents will let me take the path train home.

 

Yep, thats the Starbucks. Really weird though, because i didnt know they reffered to rte 1&9 as "Edgar rd" ??? Maybe thats just the name of the plaza rd.

Anyway, yes just look for the Home Depot sign on the left, and just before you see that, you will see the green Starbucks sign on the left. To your right will be the old GM truck plant which has been closed for a few years. It cant be very far off the bridge.

Also, when youre waiting at that light to take a left into the Starbucks plaza, you will probably already see my Mini parked there.

 

Not really sure what you mean here. There is only one Home Depot at that location if thats what youre asking. And as far as i know, there is only one Home Depot on Rte 1&9 in Linden anyway. Its the Only one near a Starbucks in Linden. Take a look at the link that Funk-Flex posted if youre not sure. If youre coming from Newark, the Home Depot/Starbucks plaza will be on your left, across from the old GM plant

 

OK, i understand. If you can, try to make it. So far, including you and if everyone makes it, we will have 5 Mini's present Supposed to be good weather too.

We don't appreciate what you are saying about NEMINI....not very nice when you don't even know us. No chances given, just you and your assumptions. So sorry that you had to be like that because you are missing out on a great bunch of people.

 

Not assuming at all. You guys nagged and whined about $4 cup of coffee. Dont like it, then dont go. At least someone stepped forward and decided to do a meet. Since when did you meet me? I dont need to be "stubborn to see that not much has been going on in the local Mini forums. Maybe this can be a start

OH, and yes i do see meets planned but reality is, most of us cant take 5 days off to go drive for ice cream!

As for the coffee....isn't the 4 bucks, it's the Starbucks. 1QukMINI has put it the best, which we all loved your plate at MOT!! Woo-Hoo!

Thanks all you guys for coming out to our first (of many future coffee meets) ever Mini's do coffee event in NJ ! You guys were great Boy, little did i know we were going to be chatting for over 3 hours there about Mini's and everything in between! Even my wife enjoyed hangin out with you guys. We DEF have to do a similar event soon!

Manny, your car looks great! Thanks, now im influenced to buy more mods for my Mini Your engine was so nicely detailed. All in all, it was fun. You guys were super Cool !
