Webb Motorsports R56 cat-back

We are finally in the deep stages of development of our own brand cat-back, and because of the simplicity of the system, it will probably be ready before our R53 system due to material costs.

We are using a 2.5 and 3" system as an option, and we KEEP the existing post cat, making this unit SCCA GS legal (as well as green). So far, I am excited about the progress in power and sound.

I will be posting the pics and construction of the system soon, so stay tuned!

If there is anything you would like to see from a cat-back, now is the time to let me know, as I can incorporate changes in the system before it is jigged at this point.

Thanks!
Randy

Doesn't the main cat keep it "green enough"

if at all possible i would love to see some stainless steel double wall exhaust tips. i had them on my R32 with the magnaflow system and they looked killer.

Did you get an R56 Skippy? The dog forced me...

On the tips - I could probably do just about anything at this point, but was thinking rolled black. Do you have a better pic of the Magnaflow tips you had?

Thanks,
Randy

i might, i have to look around a bit, but they were basically a slash cut style with double wall. i think they were about 2 1/2-3".

this is the link to the exhaust

Subscribing to this thread just for updates can you give weight comparisons and cost when you post pics?

Very good numbers - the prototype is just a downturn in black, which I kinda like. I'm working on several tip options that can be specified. Would you guys rather have the option of having the unit built to spec which would take about an extra 1.5 weeks with your choice of tip, or just a spec tip and having it available straight away?

I think a built to order system would be sweet! Especially if you get to choose your own tip design! How many choices we talking about here???

A bunch - Borla and Magnaflow as well as Burns Stainless all offer tips only, and if we are building it, you could choose then we could weld to the existing system...

I think everyone will have their own personal preference, so maybe the custom tip option sounds best. Me, I prefer the pseudo-stock look. A deeper sounding exhaust, better flow, with simple, straight cut tips (no 4" ricers please!).

When you get to it, some dyno deltas would be good.

I'm really excited to see your r56 system but even more excited for the r53 one

Any news (or new soundclips)?

No news on the R53 system, but for high dollar, I can build one at a time. The cost is still in the metal, as evidenced by the rise in other system's cost by a significant margin. Until I have funds laying around, I am not going to build it. It is too costly to do a run of 20 right now.

The good news - that system is completely jigged, tested and ready to be built on an assembly line (and we build it here).

The other good news, we are also building the R56 system here, and after the testing, I will be pulling it down for jigging and manufacture. If there weren't so many competitors, I'd show my hand, but after being burned in the past, everyone just has to wait and see what we come up with!

Hope that helps!
Randy

Well I'm definitely glad to hear that both of your exhausts are coming along so nicely.

Maybe I can sell my r53 (w/ broken AC in Texas heat :( ) and pick up an r56+your exhaust?

I pick up my R56 August 13 if you need a prototype MINI. Its only a quick 10 hour drive out to Denver for me. (less than 10 in a MINI, I'm sure. hehe)

We have our own Mule - my daily driver!

That's always been a requirement here at WMS. I have to won the car in order to build parts for it. I really believe strongly in any vendor owning the car the sell parts for. I know several of the NAM vendors do as well.

You are always welcome though!!!

I just bought an r56 and the first thing I thought of was this exhaust.

Randy, did you ever end up selling this system or is it caught in limbo?

Nice looking tips!

I'm also in favor of getting rid of the 2nd cat. The U.S.A. is VERY green compared to India and China! One cat is enough!
