Looking at 2007 .. Have Tire Questions

There seems to be some mixed opinion on the runflats. Since I would use the Mini as a fun car, mainly in good weather(no snow) and close to home I would consider ditching the run flats and going with a can of goo and a cell phone. What brand and size tires does the 2007 vert S come with? I heard they changed but I haven't seen to what. What would be a good, max summer performance replacement tire (non run flat)?

Don't know the tire size. But when reading about Rfs, make sure the poster is talking about 2nd generation. They have improved a lot. They are harder due to the sidewall construction. As of now, they are also harder to come by, but that is rapidly changing. My advice wiuld be use the RFs until they wear out. Then, at that time, see how the market is with regard to RF performance and availability. The RFs on my R56 are way better than the ones that were on my 04.

I think this board makes way too much out of the current rf's. They seem to do all the stuff a MINI is capabile of doing on the street, and staying safe, very well. If you are racing it there are other tires for the specalized purpose. If you live where you need winter tires, you would need winter tires if you had rf's or not. No 45 series tire is going to make a MINI ride anywhere close to a luxo, it's not the nature of a MINI. The only two concerns I have about the rf's on my '06, is how long they are going to last driving for fun and how much is it going to cost to replace them with new rf's.

You should also be concerned about your options if you get a flat.

True, but I hope that the rf is the option if I get a flat! Anybody ever tried to do a fix a rf with a flat fix kit, the sealer and air pump?

If it makes a difference, when I called the dealer to get a quote to replace my tires they said about 1800 for 4 tires. I probably could have found slightly cheaper prices but just went the non-RF route and spent 600ish for 4 tires. So the way I look at it, worst case scenario, even if I got flats, I could replace all 4 tires again for less then I would spend on runflats. And I wore through my RF in a little less then 2 years so the numbers get a little too big a little too quick for my liking. Even worse if I got a flat with runflats.

I meant in terms of being able to get it repaired or the availability and/or cost of replacement.
