Did you see the MINI television ad?
Last night on the SciFi channel during Enterprise a Mini ad was shown a couple of times.
Not sure if it was regional or nationwide, but it had "Dueling Banjos" playing in the background while showing two neighbors trying to outdo each other in modifying their new Mini's.
As if to say, the only competition a Mini has is itself.
At then end a brief blurb is mentioned about the gas mileage.
Is that the first time Mini has run a television ad? I know it is the first time I have ever seen one. It was also interesting they ran the ad on Enterprise. A show which did not do that well when it was in prime time. I wonder what demographic they think they were hitting?

Yes, I saw that also . . . and thought it unique both in that I don't remember seeing MINI ads on TV and it was a most unique time slot. . . but it was fun . . . and a whirlwind tour of "accessories".

LOL..I wish I could have seen that! And dueling banjos in the background! That must have been a good one! I have never seen a MINI ad on tv..I was always told that MINI didn't want to do tv commercials becuase they would rather sell cars by word of mouth than by commercials like all the other car companies do.

Yes, they did manage to show every option available to the Mini buyer, plus some that are not. If you catch it again, watch the Mini on the left. The last one appears to be a full blown racer.
I think they could have capped it with a drive-by of a base Mini with a beautiful girl at the wheel and capped it, "The one option we cannot provide.", or "You'll have to supply that last option yourself."
Good lord no! I am more of a Worf fan.

they were most likely targeting younger buyers at that time. just a guess because of some of the new features like the "mood lights" and cool little things like that. not that older people can't have minis
I do not count utoob. I cannot view anything there due to security restrictions. I know there is stuff on the Internet, but this was the first time I have seen an ad for Mini on television.
Yep, I saw the add during Enterprise. So it was not just regional. It was so odd, the first time I have EVER seen ad on TV. At first I thought hey wonder what they are advertising, since every ad with a MINI in it has been for something else (Ruby Tuesdays). Then I realized it was for MINI, cool. Why can't they show that over and over again.
Reminded me of a sticker I saw while down at the Dragon for the kayak and canoe people. It said, "Paddle faster, I hear banjo music!"

They are also running this commercial here in Canada...kind of took me by surprise! They went through the options so fast, it was difficult to see them all! Wish I could acquire all those options for my Mini as quickly as the guys on the commercial got theirs - unfortunately, I have to live in the real world, not the make-believe one! Sigh...
The real world is over-rated anyway. I prefer the fantasy one. Much more fun.
So it sounds like Mini is doing a Mini-blitz ad campaign. This ought to be interesting. Wonder if Oxford really has that much more capacity available? And is BMW getting ready to open up a bunch more Mini dealers?
